I have a my newly built server that I will be rolling out to replace my new server currently under testing in my office. I'm having issues with the sleep mode.

I thought I configured it properly but when I hit sleep mode, but the fans keep running in my case - all of them. It almost sounds like it's NOT in sleep mode if it were not for the blank screen and the blinking on/off switch light.

This is in Vista Ultimate with the gigabyte 780g MB. I have an ASUS 780g MB on a client in XP, and that one actually seems to appear completely shut down when in sleep. What am I doing wrong?

Are your fans connected to the motherboard or directly to the power supply?

I had similar problems and suggest doing the following:
Go into Device Manager for any wireless device you have (keyboard, mouse, remote) go into the Power Management tab and uncheck the box that says "allow this device to bring the computer out of standby".
Then do what is suggested here: http://windowsitpro.com/article/articlei...-mode.html
It's been the culprit on 2 of my Vista Ultimate rigs.

One to the motherboard, one to the P/S. However, it sounds like the p/s fan AND the others are all on.

I think this is where my issue is...I have to check it when I get home. I *think* it's S3, but I'll look into it tonight.

It was the BIOS, it was set for S1. S3 cured it. Thanks. I thought I had taken care of that, but maybe a BIOS update reset it.
