I recorded a program today, and played it back. There was sound for the first minute, and then for the remainder of the program, there was no sound. I'm leaning toward thinking this was only a problem with the channel I was recording at that time, because I recorded another program on the same channel later in the day and it was fine. Is there a way to be certain the cause of the problem? Thanks.

1. check the logs around the time it happened. If there's anything GBPVR related it may show up.
2. try playing back the recording in another external player. This will let you know if the file itself is missing sound, of if it's a playback problem in GBPVR. VLC would be a good choice as i've found it quite good at playing through corrupt files rather than throwing a wobbly and giving up.

Thanks. Here are the logs. By the way, I did try to play the file in VLC and Windows Media Player and there is no sound using those programs, either. Any help would be much appreciated.

As far as I can tell (and I'm far from the most expert here) it did what it was told and recorded fine - so unless anyone else can see an issue I think you might be right with your first hunch that it was a fault in the transmission. If you're using an external set top box you could make sure that the audio leads aren't being disturbed by the cat / curtains / cleaner....

Thanks for your help, fuzzweed. Yes, I also think it was a problem with the transmission. I have recorded several programs on the same channel since the problem, and everything recorded perfectly.
