Hi again

Managed to find cancel recording from within RECORDINGS menu, sure I'd tried this before??

Get an error though; Unhandled eception - failed to communicate with Recording Service.

Recording doesn't actually stop.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

In Digital Sources Config I have ticked box to only show installed devices. This offers; Nova T 500 DVB-T (1) & (2) as well as Nova-DT #1 DVB-t & #2 DVB-T.

I am using Nova T 500 DVB-T (1) & (2) set to device numbers 1 & 2. I have tried the Device Number checking utility but this seems only to work with 150 PVR etc.

Guess that there is an issue on device numbers here??
The device numbers only get increase when there is multiple BDA Filters (drivers) with the same name. I think the Nova-T 500 is one of the few devices that uses different names for each tuner, so you end up with two capture sources set to device #1. If that doesnt work for you though, run the filtercheck.exe then zip and attach the filtercheck.log and I'll double check.

The DeviceNumber check utility is only for telling the difference between a PVR150/500 and a PVR250/350, which was a big problem since they reused the driver names, but changed how they needed to be connected. This problem doesnt happen on any other device.

As you've found, you can do it from the pending list in the recording screen. You can also press enter on the red highlighted show in the TV Guide and select the 'cancel' option.

Did you hit the 'fix hauppauge remote settings' button in the config app, and restart the Hauppauge IR app?

Attached are zipped log files along with a copy of FILTERCHECK.

Thanks for your help.

With the Hauppage remote, I have obviously misunderstood. I thought that to just use it in GBPVR the Hauppage app wasnot required, whoops.

Will correct this and retry.

All the best Graham

The filtercheck.log confirms that this specific device needs both of the capture sources set as device#1. If it doesnt work, then reproduce the problem and zip and attach the logs.

No, you still need the Hauppauge IR app. It translates remote button presses into keystrokes it sends to the foreground app. The 'fix hauppauge remote settings' button inserts the list of GB-PVR keystrokes in the Hauppauge IR app's config file (irremote.ini).

You're getting this error because either the recording service isnt running (check task list for GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log) or you have some firewall software getting in the way of communication.

The last GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log in your zip file looks like you've shut down the Recording Service manually.

Hiya Sub

Thanks for your help so far.

I have now installed the Hauppage IR and gone back to CONFIG and clicked "fix Hauppage remote".

I can scroll thru main menu using up/down/ok buttons on remote & change channels with number pad but that's about all.

Channel up/down, vol, tv guide etc do not function.

I guess that I've missed another obvious step? Is this a consequence of not having Hauppage IR installed at time of installing GBPVR?

Otherwise things are looking good.

Any advice please?

Thanks as always.

I have been able to install/upgrade ir.exe after a GBPVR install without problems ...

1) Install ir.exe
2) Run GBPVR Config and "Fix Remote"
3) Stop and restart ir.exe

My remote ini is attached on the off chance that it might help.

Good Luck

Graham

Thanks, I've reinstalled the Hauppage IR components using IR32_249.exe.

In my progs menu in Windows I have Stop & Restart IR and in Startup group I have Autostart IR.

That all looks ok.

I have run config and fixed remote. & the restarted IR but without any success.

I then copied you IRREMOTE.INI and restarted IR but again without any success!

Question; How do I know if IR is running?? I would have expected to see something on the toolbar by the clock but I don't. Should I??

It's kinda useful to have the remote to navigate around GBPVR so any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks Graham S
