Hello everyone.

I have recently installed an analogue tv card. Its an Hauppauge PVR500 with dual tuners. I have installed the associated Hauppauge software with it.

I am thinking of switching to GBPVR.I would like to know if it can detect both the tuners of my TV card and perform simultaneous scheduled recording from 2 different channels.

Secondly, please inform if I can utilize a 3rd tuner (Compro's Videomate X350). Will GBPVR be able to perform simultaneous recording from three channels using these two cards?

Thankyou for your help.

Regards,

Yes your hauppauge card will detect both tuners and you can either record two different channels or record one and watch the other, or record two and watch one of your recordings. And yes the recordings can be scheduled from the electronic programming guide.

As for your other card I am not familiar with it but as long as it has a hardware decoder or encoder (i think) it should be supported and this would allow a third channel into the mix.

Hi.

Thanks a lot for the response.

I understand that you mean that GBPVR will detect both the tuners in my card and perform simultaneous recording from both.

We dont have an EPG in my part of the world. What I would have to do is perform manual scheduled recordings. (i.e. set time, date, duration and channel). Is that possible in GBPVR or does it only work with an EPG?

My other card does not have a hardware encoder (it uses my CPU resources to do that). Is there any precedence of GBPVR supporting such cards?

Regards,
Amer

To the best of my knowledge gbpvr does not support non hardware encoding cards.

As far as manual recordings without a epg I have no idea sorry as I haven't tried it

You can schedule recordings manually, including, for example, record this time and this channel every day or every week.

Good Luck

Hi.

I have installed gbpvr. I selected my card name from the drop down in the settings for the recording plugin. As mine is a dual tuner card, I configured two recording plugins (no.1 and 2 with same settings).

I then used the Tuning Assistant to tune to all my channels and noted the channel numbers.

I then opened the channel config dialog box but found a blank window although it was written that 'below is a list of channels .....'.

When I click gbpvr icon, a blank, black screen is displayed.

1) How can I watch live TV?
2) How can I schedule recordings (and for that matter, 02 simultaneous ones from different channels)?
3) Can I watch tv while performing background recording from another channel?

I have downloaded gbpvr documentation but could not find clues to the above functions.

Thanks for help.
regards.

When you setup your capture source you needed to supply the epg info (usually xmltv), or set the EPG to 'none' and manually add your channels. It sounds like you havent done this. After you've done it you can enter the RF channel numbers for each of your channels.

The tuning assistant wont add those channels. Most people will never have to run the tuning assistant. Its only provided to help people understand what RF channels are used by their broadcaster.

Thank you for the help.

I have set the EPG to 'none' but cant manually add the channels because the 'add' channel button is greyed out. Please advise.

The 'Add' button is greyed out until the capture source has been saved. ie, if you 'ok' out of the config app then go back in then the button will be enabled.
