Some questions about GBPVR.

I have keyed in all the channels for both the configured sources. Upon clicking GBPVR icon, a black (blank) screen still appears.

Is the configuration complete? How can I start away with scheduled recordings and watching TV?

so the pvrx2 icon doesnt start the program, or you get to the menu and live tv gives a black screen? can you give details on the rest of your system? Also, if you can zip your log folder in devnz/gbpvr and attach it to your next post here that would help.

my first impression at this point would be a codec issue, have you installed any codecs? what do you have these set to in the playback tab of hte config?

If you get the black screen immediately then its probably your video card not being up to the direct3d requirements of the app. What video card do you have?

The video card in my Desktop is an on-board one. I looked up the model as NVIDIA RIVA TNT2. My system is a Dell Optiplex GX260 P4 1.8 GHz, 512 MB RAM.

I have not installed any codecs specifically. The decoders have been set to system default and 'use software decoder'.

I am attaching the zipped log folder from devnz/gbpvr for your review.

Yeah, as I suspected, it looks like you're video card isnt up to the task. Its unable to create the large Direct3D textures that PVRX2 uses to display the UI. Sorry.

Is the video memory of my existing on-board card (96 MB) insufficient? If I install an additional AGP card how much minimum memory should I go for and will it solve the problem?

Some nvidia Geforce2 users got this same problem in the past, but were able to resolve it by using a later version of the nvidia drivers. So, I'd look for updated drivers first. Otherwise you'd need to look at a new video card.

96MB is enough, but some old cards could only use small textures. GB-PVR requires large textures. Make sure you get a common card that others are also using.

The cards I am being offered in the market are 256 MB AGP cards.

Could you highlight some indicators to look for in the specs of these cards so that I make sure the problem is not repeated?
