I have just started to use GB-PVR with a new Plextor TV402U device, and I really like the SW.

Have found some issues that I am not able to sort out:

1- I am importing the channels with O2grabber and I believe it worked well for a few days.  But, all of a sudden GBPVR has started to record wrong channels.  I am using the WEB interface to program the recoring and the channels is correctly named here, live TV also shows the correct channel and the recording is named correctly.  I have tried to use the EMPTY EPG function and reread the channels, but it makes no difference.  Is there some issue with a database that I might have to empty  to start from scratch ?

2 - When I am scheduling recodings, the first schedule normally goes Ok, but after that I get an error message from the WEB browser that it has to resubmit the form.  This comes after I have clicke RECORD in the popup window and the main window is refreshing to show the red marker.  If I reply IGNORE it will show me the EPG again, but with the recording not marked, If I click RETRY it skips to next page.  In any case the recording is scheduled OK, but it is annoying.

3 - When I go to scheduled recording and cancel a recording the EPG is blank afterwards, no channels.  Refresh page do not help, but new login in the WEB interface brings it all back again.

Finally a note to anyone who consider the Plextor TV402U USB device; it is a great piece of hardware, but I have some weird performance issues.  On one of my systems (P4 3ghz) I have only 10% CPU usage when recording.  On another system (P4 2ghz) I have 100% CPU usage and the system basically freezes during recoring/live playback.  Then the strange one; on a P3 1 GHZ system I have 40-50% CPU usage when performing the excact same operations.  The P4 systems has onboard USB2, the P3 has a USB2 PCI card.  The difference must be related to the USB2 implementation on the computer.  If anyone has more info on the USB performance issue, I would really appreciate it.  It looks like the USB communication on some systems takes a lot of CPU power, but I have not been able to find any good info if there is a USB2 PCI board out there that gives low CPU usage.

I wonder if it would help to recycle the recording service after each recording. I will try this as soon as I have some time.

I also have seen another issue.
When scheduling a show via the TVguide sometimes the recording
stops after 30-60 sec. However the recording service still shows Staus recording. Also the red recording led on the plextor device itself is still active.

Hello again.

I tried restarting the "recording service" between recordings.
This time the channels were switched correctly.
However, after 22 second the recording stopped for no reason
but the recording status still showed "recording".
I wonder if this could be a driver issue?

How did you restart the recording service? Was it manually (ie you clicked the icon each time) or do you have some automated way?

I restarted it manually.
I would not know where to place the code to automatically recycle the service after a recording.

smilieHi!

Today I tried to record a show from TV again.
The recording aslo stopped at the correct time.
However the GBPVR recording service still shows
status recording.
First I stopped the recording service manually.
In Task manager I tried to terminatel the "gbpvrrecordingservice.exe" process.
No sucess. Not even with the Kill.exe command
from the NT resource kit.
Only a system restart helps.
Anybody any ideas?

I have the TV-402U and I have also had the problem where it only records for 20 sec but continues to say it is recording. I also had the other problem where the Recording services continues to record even though the recording time is over (even include the padding time). I am wondering if it has anything to do with other programs that were incorrectly using the driver... I was playing around with a bunch of programs previously.

Reproduce the problem, then email your logs to me at support@devnz.com and I'll take a look. Include a detailed description of what you did, what you expected and what happened.

Hi, It happened again to me tonight when I tried to record 24.

It recorded 55 seconds of 24 and then quit. It was asleep when I came back, when I resumed the computer the tray icon was green and it said it was recording 24. I restarted the tray service by right clickingand it turned red and said it was asleep... I checked the Process and there were two GBPVRRecordingSevice.exe one had 57,556K and the other was leaking memory... it is at 25,000K and climbing... When I try stopping the service under Admin Tools, I can only stop the first one, also I can not kill the first one under the task manager process list. I will email the logs to you.

I tried to watch Live TV before I recorded 24 but I got an "object reference not set to an object instance" but didn't have time to look at so I simply rebooted... not sure if it is related though because I ahve had this happen before but never this error.

Thanks for the program... I am jus thappy it starts to record every time ... more than ATI MMC did!

Hi Sub. First of all thanks again for creating this great piece of software and still having time to help us troubleshoot.

Yesterday I scheduled 2 recordings on different channels at different times. No back to back - tere was a few minutes between
each show. The recording stoped at the scheduled time, but the recording service was still runing. (mentioned in my eralier post)
As requested I will send you the Log files in an e-mail in zipped format.
If there is anything more I can do please let me know.

Thanks in Advance
