I just received my unit yesterday. Arcsoft Media Extreme did a good job of recording Premonition off of Showtime HD. Now I would like to use GB-PVR. I am attempting to install the device. So far I have not been able to get the device to record or even view live tv. What software besides GB-PVR do I need? Also can someone point me to a link for the install. I have searched with no luck. Thank you.

Have you created a capture source in the config app?

If so, try doing a recording, then zip and attach your GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log and GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log files and I'll take a look.

Duh, I believe I had the Hauppauge HD-PVR configed to record from composite not component. I double checked the config and ran the ReRegister Filters.bat file. I just finished recording a sitcom off of my Directv sat box. Unbelievable we can now capture HD. Thank you for your help.

I'm having problems with the hd pvr. It doesn't seem to be able to do live tv or recordings with it. I've double checked that it's the right input and applied the patches in this thread. It seems to work with the arcsoft software and I have the arcsoft h.264 codec and aac selected, and have tried using ffdshow as well. Occasionally I'll hear a quarter second or so of sound, but then it stops and I get a black screen. Attached are my logs.

Has anyone had any more luck over the last few weeks?

I just received my HDPVR in the mail today, and got it hooked up (Dell running Vista Home Premium).

I finally got gbpvr running so that I could watch live tv (kind of) after a lot of trial and error.

Right now it is just extremely unreliable. I can start the TV Guide, select a channel, and usually watch it. If I go back to the guild and change channels, it changes, eventually - usually after 10 seconds of a black screen (using haupblast.exe), but then the audio is usually off by a few seconds.

I've scheduled some recordings using the Total Media Extreme, so we'll see how that goes.

I feel like it's a long way off from being able to watch TV through it full-time (and be able to take advantage of manual recording, etc).

With the delays associated with ir blasters etc, I dont think I'd bother watching live tv through it, but definitely good enough for doing recording etc.

FWIW, I've recorded well over a hundred hours with mine with no problems. I don't use it for live TV, tho. I use an MCE blaster rather than the one that comes with it.

That's encouraging to hear. Last night I scheduled it to record a half hour of HD, and it worked great.

I have another weird problem though. There are vertical lines going through the picture (maybe 3" wide and 3" apart on a 42" plasma). I'm pretty sure it is the connection between the video card and the TV, so it probably didn't affect the recording, just the playback. They were there when I first setup the computer yesterday, then later in the night they went away (as I continued to try to setup gbpvr). Then in the morning when I turned on the TV they were there again. Sad

LiveTV from HDPVR is better w/ firewire (occasional hiccups, but the channel change is practically instant vs the blaster).

However, I rarely use gbpvr for live TV - can't remember the last time I've watched a show while it was airing either.

My kids don't understand why they can't watch Dora or Diego on demand when visiting other people Smile
