Ok-

I got an XP machine working well in my house. Now I amtrying to get a v`Vista machine to connect. I stop the service on the XP machine. Installed 1.08 on Vista, downloaded a dongle.bin file and disabled the firewall. Installed the vcredist file `. 2.0 .net already part of OS.

Is seems the process is running and listening on the port but mvp will not connect.

Have a look at the log.

Any ideas?

TIA

Given that you have two NIC's my first guess is a network or sub-net problem, and possibly a missing DHCP server if you have the mvp cross connected.

Do you have more information on your network wired/wireless and the revision of your mvp from the bottom of the case.

Subnet 192.168.1.X

One NIC is disable. I do have VMware Server installed. That might be causing a conflict. I'll uninstall and see if it doesn;t pickup Nic2. I assume you deduced this from the second IP address??

That 192.168.80.x subnet is foreign to me.

Wireless is disable. House is hardwiredwith one additional interconnect via POE.

Thanks for the tip. I'll post back the results.

I have seen the same problem after installing VMPlayer. Uninstalling it solved the problem. I'm going to look into it some more today.

I've found a solution for the VMWare problem: http://www.frameworkx.com/contentblogdet...=57&id=690

Hi,

so finally: what was the solution? The above link seems to be broken - or may be I just don't see the solution from the posts.

regards,
Arne

The info seems to be gone. The solution worked for some time (don't know what it was, sorry), but suddenly it didn't anymore. So I stopped using VMware and switched to Microsoft Virtual PC. It's not officially supported in Vista Home Premium, but it works without problems.

I haven't tried since both VPC and VirtualWin are free but either set this in the player config if you don't need vnc

RemoteDisplay.vnc.enabled = "FALSE"

or move the port to 6900

RemoteDisplay.vnc.port = "5900"

This isn't a Vista issue it sounds like typical conflict on the vnc ports.
