Please see attached. With the first one, "Fill.jpg", I included the entire desktop background so that you could see the window with respect to that.

Letter box is the mode you'd need to show 16:9 video in a 4:3 window. None of those look like the 'letterbox' mode, since these would add the black bars at the top and bottom. You'll only get this 'letterbox' option when you're got your TV Shape set to 4:3 in the config app.

Thos screenshots look like what you'd get with 'fill', 'pillarbox' and 'remove letterbox'.

Not sure if you can see the file attachment names, but I named them after the mode that I was in. These were Fill, Remove Letterbox, Pillarbox, Auto. There is no 'Letterbox' mode Sad

I'm having the same issue, F7 works but the config file doesn't seem to save it

Thanks guys you were both right. It seems that after I was told about F7 for different aspect ratios, I didn't check out 4:3 correctly...?
But I found a bug - if I'm in pvrx2 and in 16x9 mode, I get the different options as indicated in the earlier screenshots. But if I go to settings and change to 4:3, I still only see the same options that were given in 16x9 mode... so I thought nothing had changed. Seems you have to restart pvrx2 for the new settings to become available; maybe I hadn't done that.
Anyway, looking much better now, thanks!

Question - now in this letterbox mode, is there a way to zoom in (so the picture is horizontally/vertically stretched)? I don't care if I lose the outer left and right sides. (None of the other modes I cycle through with F7 seem to do this without breaking the aspect ratio.)

Thanks, Phil

I also had that problem when I first tried gbpvr; after changing the aspect ratio the setting wasn't saved. But I'm now set up on a different PC and it seems ok. weird.

You do need to restart the application after changing the TV Shape. Thats not a bug.

Glad you got it working.

There isnt a mode that does this by default, but you can add additional aspect ratio modes to do this in the <AspectRatioModes shape="4x3"> section of config.xml, which have the correct aspect ratio but zoom the picture further.

Excellent thanks, thought that could be an option...

I assume from looking at a few of them that the settings are left-top-right-bottom? So a zoomed entry might be something like:
<AspectRatioMode name="LetterBox Zoom" ratio="-0.125,0,0.875,1" />
?
