I just installed a Haupp. 1600 tv tuner. It works with MCE and the pvr that came with it but gb pvr has issues. I can do a channel scan and it finds and displays the stations but when I go to open the pvr it freezes on the menu display.

I ran a mux check, whatever that is and it says that I don't have a multiplexer on my machine. I am running vista home premium sp1. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

I also get a message saying that my dongle.bin is incompatible with vista. thanks

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

I'm pretty sure it'll be caused by the audio/video decoders you're using, so try other combinations of those first. Also make sure you have the audio renderer set to 'system default'.

Sorry, but I have no idea how find any logs. I don't see any sign that gbpvr sees my tv tuner at all. I have tried different configs and downloaded the dongle you all recommend although I should think with vista and an ati 3870 I should be good to go. Like I said, the channel scanner picks up all the stations. When I open gbpvr I can click on some things, but if I click on settings it will flash then quit, when I click channel guide it freezes and if I click live tv, nothing happens.

This sounds like you have no channels enabled in you capture source setup. When scanning for channels, did you map the found channels to the EPG channels and enable them? http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Confi...HDTVSource

the whole epg thing doesn't seem to work. I am using the Haup. 1600 with simple cable as my box is on the big tv. This isn't ATSC or QAM just analog cable

It's still because you have not defined any channels:
Code:
2008-08-22 21:38:31.956    VERBOSE    [1]    GBPVR.Backend.Common.GbpvrException: No channels have been set up. Please run the Configuration utility and setup the EPG source. Use the 'Update EPG' button to force the system to import the latest set of channel and programme information.

Under the channel tab my box is empty but nothing I am doing seems to help. Can someone with a Haupp. 1600 tell me what settings they have in that tab and also under the playback tab. I have tried so many settings that I forget the defaults.

I also downloaded another dongle since gbpvr was telling me the one that came with it wasn't compatible with vista. Would that be a problem? thanks.

Did you set up an EPG source? There are several options at http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/EPG but the recommended one is Schedules Direct.

Sorry but someone else will need to help with this one. I don't know enough about this.

As Whurlston indicates, you've got no channels there because you havnt setup your EPG.

You dont need to worry about the dongle message. The dongle is only used if you're using the Hauppauge MediaMVP device.
