I have installed the latest msi and now have gbpvr running on WHS. I dont have an TV cards setup yet, but wanted to test to make sure the MVP was OK under WHS.
However, I have tried to use the \\server\video share mappings for the video library but cant get it to work. The directory shows up on the MVP, but nothing happens when I click on it. I have also mapped the share to a drive letter and tried that, but get the same result. Are there specific permissions I need to set for this drive letter ? I went with a blanket 'all access' for Everyone, but that didn't help.
I can play vids if I set GBPVR to look at a folder on c:

Any thoughts ?

Have you tried giving rights to the Guests group specifically? You might also need to enable the Guest account.

The Everyone group doesn't include Guest by default.

Had more of a play, and it seems as though I did not cascade permissions through my shares and mappings properly. I mapped \\server\videos to x:, set permissions for Everyone on x: but not on the \\server\videos share. Now changed that, and its up and running.

Just need to install the TV cards now....

well... thought this was sorted, but isn't! Just done a fresh install of GBPVR to reset everything. I can import recordings xml created by Mpegexport OK (proven by doing export straight after an import), but GBPVR wipes them as soon I restart the recording service. I assume its being clever by removing references to recordings it can no longer see. So, why cant it see them .. ?!
Here's the setup:
recording folder is \\server\videos\recorded
buffer folder is the same.
I have then mapped these to X:\ and set this in the config.
The folders have ALL permissions enabled for Guest, NETWORK, Everyone and SYSTEM (amongst others such as ADMIN etc).
GBPVR recording service is running as SYSTEM.

Before the recordings are wiped, I can view recordings and stream them OK to another GBPVR client on the network.

Any thoughts ?

If I put the recordings into a non-share, everything seems to work ok. Is this just a strange thing is WHS ? I'd like to be able to use the shares... so would like to find a fix to this.

(lots of logs attached)

right... I'm getting very bad a replying to my own posts ! :o

I have now set GBPVR to look at d:\shares\videos and it works ok now. Not sure what will happen when I add another disk though and the magic of WHS tombstoning starts....

In the meantime, if anyone has a different solution, I'd be happy to hear it.

GB-PVR will auto delete any recordings that reference a file that the app cant find, to tidy up database, working on the assumption the user has manually deleted the file.

This logic can be switched off with the <AutoRemoveMissingRecordings> setting in config.xml.
