jumpy live TV and playback

I'm having trouble with jumpy playback AND live TV. It'll be smooth for a few minutes, and then it will start to drop frames and get pretty jumpy.

I played back one of the recordings using VLC and it played perfectly smooth... so it makes me think that maybe it's a settings problem within GBPVR, or a driver issue maybe?

I recently installed a Gigabyte 8600 GT (passive cooling) because I thought it would fix my (somewhat) jumpy playback using the onboard GeForce 6150 video. But honestly, it's worse now with the dedicated card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I'm running the latest GBPVR and the latest NVIDIA drivers.

Its most likely related to the video decoders and/or video renderer you're using, so try different combinations of these. Install extra video decoders if you only have a couple and neither of these work well.

There is no one-size-fits-all set of recommended decoders. It depends on lots of variables like highdef vs standard def channels, H.264 vs MPEG2 channels, videocard you're using and how well does hardware acceleration etc. If you do a forum search you'll find plenty of discussion about various decoders, and plenty of recommendations.

Make sure you have the latest Nvidia video drivers (I think it now includes the nvidia video decoder?). You should not have any stuttering with that combination. You could also try the latest FFDShow video codec and CoreAVC for Hi-Def.

I have been having similar probs with a 8600GT card using 178.19 drivers, the solution for me was to roll back my video drivers to the original ones that came on disc (162.18) which completly removed picture stutter etc, however the CPU now does twice the work it did with the latest drivers !!

Planning to test with some in-between driver versions, will keep ya posted

I am having a similar problem. With most TV shows, everything is fine. However, with sports where things are moving faster, the playback doesn't seem smooth. It is not terrible, just not like it should be. I have a GeForce FX 5200 128MB video card. I am wondering if I can adjust the video card settings to improve it, or if it is something in GBPVR.
