I have setup my client using instructions in wiki

When I play the recordings the screen is blank!

FYI, the recording listing menu is shown before hand and I am able to play the recording from the client with VLC (this tells me that the shares are accessible).

Any pointers that I must check?

Do you have the right decoders installed. Probably the same you use on the server.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

It needs an MPEG2 decoder. If you only have the 'system default' option listed in the config app, then this is a pretty good sign you dont have the required types of decoder installed.

I think you (left) click on 'disabled' to get the drop down.

You may also need to add pvxr2.exe to the list of apps on ffdshow's 'Directshow control' page.

Ok, ffdshow does not work (tried all drop down options of MPEG2). In config referred to ffdshow and restarted. Did not fix the problem.

Should I reboot for ffdshow selection to take effect?

Now I am recording the TV in Xvid. I do have PowerDVD which plays fine from the folder.

Question:
1. How to find what default codec is used for Xvid in XP?
2. How to tell XP to use PowerDVD codec for Xvid

Thx

I dont know, but them I'm no ffdshow expert. Try installing a reliable easy-to-use mpeg2 decoder like: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm

A utility like gspot will tell you.

I'm fairly sure PowerDVD doesnt include an xvid decoder so its probably just using whatever is the system default decoder on your machine.

Sub, I downloaded MPV decoder. Now there are two files with IDENTICAL name one under folder "release" and another under folder "Release unicode" - which one should I install?

I installed the one under folder "release" and my config file points to MPV decoder for MPEG2 playback but again no luck.

I get a feeling there is more to it? Can you please help me?

FYI, my server side settings are Processing -> auto-convert MPG recordings to -> No conversion ::: I am assuming this will record as MPEG2

Either one would be fine.

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.
