Is Windows SBS 2003 Supported?

Hi

Can GBPVR run on Windows Server 2003 and specifically on SBS2003?

Is there a how-to?

Is somebody doing this now? What problems did you have?

I have an array of hardware to use for this, my goal is to have all the services I want in a modern house running from a single machine, hence the desire to have the media centre and email etc on one PC.

Please keep comments short, to the point and relevant, please exclude your very large signatures and other irrelevant blarb.

I dont test GBPVR on Windows Server 2003 or SBS2003, but I'm not aware of any reason it wouldnt work. I'm fairly sure I've seen comments from others using it in the past. The forum search should turn up some earlier posts on the subject.

Hi. I used some of the other media centre products to see what works best with my hardware choices and what produces desireable feature sets. Most of the others will not work 100% and cite differences in the media core of MS operating systems. Unfortunately, this seems to be a collection of anecdotal evidence and nothing in stone.

I have found some articles that suggest DirectX has a slightly different implimentation on MS Server products and there was reference to DirectDraw, but again, nothing in stone that I could understand.

So far, my expriences have mimicked what I have read, but then, I believe expectation affects outcome;-)

Thats a bit of a vague description so pretty hard to give you any concrete advice. No sound is most likely related to the audio decoders you're using. The first advice I give anyone with decoder problems is to make sure they're explicitly selecting the decoders rather than relying on 'system default' (which can give unpredictable results).

If you post a detailed description of a specific problem happening, along with the logs, then I'm happy to take a look.

Back. I loaded this OS many times before it produced a clean install. There is defintely a specific combination to getting things working on SBS 2003. I have yet to get to GBPVR, having just lost all my hair getting the Nvidia driver to work under 2003 (BTW, it's not supported as per Nvidia).

Will give GBPVR a go this week and let you know how it works out.

If successful, I should have a nice how-to for anybody else wanting to cut down their carbon footprint and get everything out of one PC.

i've been running GBPVR (as a server for 1 mediaMVP and 1 pc-client) on windows server 2003 recently without any major issues sofar. give it a go!

What MPEG codecs are you using. I can't get Cyberlink to install at all. The install almost completes and then generates "Fatal Error".

Apparently certain DVB fixes provided on XP were not provided for WS 2003. I've not tried GBPVR but previously ran a different PVR solution and got a few quirky issues when channel shifting.
