"Please wait till Windows configures GB-PVR" message on starting config utility

When I start it, I get a window which says:

"Please wait till Windows configures GB-PVR"

This window shows a progress meter among other things. The progress meter first increases to its max, then drops to its min value; and this cycle repeats 3 times. Then the config utility appears. This is very very irritating. I have removed the GB-PVR application and then re-installed it but it made no difference.

This is usually caused by the user deleting or moving a file that was installed by the MSI installer.

When the MSI installer decides it needs to run (to repair the install) it usually logs a message why in the Windows Event Viewer.

Something I noticed on all my 1.2.13 installs, they all had this message when going to config after a clean install. Re-registering the filters usually solves the prblem. Mayhaps the installer is skipping this step?

The installer does register them, but occassionally fails for some users. You'd probably have to log the install to tell why.

Oh well, it's a painless quick fix. Not really worth the hassle of re-installing to try and figure out what's going wrong when I have a perfectly good, working set-up. Gah, I'd hate to remap again.

Looking in application log showed the error that it couldnt find the GB-PVR folder in my start menu. I had moved it to another folder I had created in my start menu to reduce the clutter. Moving it back to its original location fixed the "error".

IMHO, it is more of a little bug rather than an error. Perhaps it can be fixed in a future version? I like my start menu clutter free

I have this problem, but am not as proficient with some of the methods suggested to fix it. Could someone give me the syntax to "reregister the filters", and could you tell me where the log was that you found the error you referenced? Any help is appreciated.

Run re-RegisterFilters.bat in \Program Files\devnz\gbpvr.

Log is at Start --> Control Panel --> Administrator Tools --> Event Viewer --> Application Log

I'm running Vista Home Premium 32, and there are a number of folders/logs under "Application Log". Could you please direct me to the correct one? I had the same re-install box as the OP, after a (hopefully) minor virus incident.

Apologies if I am preaching to the choir ... Event Viewer is an application that displays the content of logs that include the system log and the application log and the security log. The application log should include messages with MsiInstaller in the Source column and these messages may contain info about any errors.
