okay, there still isn't a 2250 to choose, but when i select analog highdef recording plugin, it selects something for me as the card...

so now i just need to figure out what epg source wants me to do. one option wants me to browse my hard drive for something and the other wants a username and password.

thanks again.

you must add the lines Sub listed to your bda.ini file BEFORE running the config program. Then you will find the HVR2250 in the list. DO NOT select the Analog High-Def option - that's only for the Hauppauge HD-PVR.

You'll also need to go to the playback tab and select your mpeg-2 video playback decoder - usually it defaults to 'system default' which usually will not work.

hey, axelrose, try using every pc's handy tool... notepad. Open the INI in notepad and Copy & Paste it in there between any other cards.

You really should just tweak the software for a few hours and search for anything you dont understand and read it on the Wiki.

axlrose,

You and I are trying to do the same thing, but I might be a little farther along.

Look at this post. I found that very helpful for setting up the digital and analog aspects of my card.

You'll also need a subscription to a guide service. Schedules Direct (www.schedulesdirect.org) is only $20 a year, and I believe it has a free trial.

You'll also have to look here for more info on how to set up your channel listings.

Looks like a lot of work? Sure, especially compared to WinTV. But we bought a TV card with lots of capabilities, and this is how we can use them. I'm not there yet, I still have a problem with mapping channels, hopefully it's my last hurdle. Let me know how it works out for you.

like others have said, the amount of work for a newb just isn't worth it. i still have no idea how to do the ini file stuff. i just want to watch hdtv football games. i can't understand why this is so hard with everyone's software and hardware.

can anyone just tell me how to get hdtv on my pc so that i can watch football? i don't care about any other channels or the channels that get in the way or anything. i just want to watch the dam football game in hd.

This stuff is complicated and the broadcasters or hardware dont help make it any easier. Its not that GB-PVR is trying to make life difficult for you. GB-PVR is one of the more powerful apps, and gives people a lot of flexibility to how things work, but this does make it more difficult to setup. GB-PVR is certainly isnt targeted at beginners, and thats fine for me - they should go find some other app.

If you just want to tune in your channels and dont want to worry about EPG sources and stuff like that, then you might as well just use an app like the Hauppauge WinTV software. Its a lot less flexible, and a pretty ugly UI, but you should at least be able to watch your tv channels without too much setup required.
