Noob! TV Guide freezes and Watch TV does not work

Well as the title says I am a noob when it comes to this software. I am installing the software on a brand new build with a HVR-1600 card in it. I have to assume that my troubles are because of my configuration. I am using XP Pro w/ SP3 installed and the latest version of GB-PVR.

As far as the error goes, when I click on "Watch TV" the program simply does not do anything other than stay at the main screen. If I select a different option such as "System" I can go into that menu no problem. Same thing happens if I select "Settings", it sits at the main screen.

The other problem is that when I click on "TV Guide" the program freeze completely and I have to end the program. I checked the log file and it said something about dividing by zero... last time I checked that was a bad thing. Hopefully you guys are smarter than I am when it comes to this and will be able to help me.

No channels have been set up. Please run the Configuration utility and setup the EPG source. Use the 'Update EPG' button to force the system to import the latest set of channel and programme information.

In your capture source settings, do you see you channels listed? If no, then you havnt setup your EPG.

Also I tried clicking the enabled check mark, I was not sure if that needed to be checked or not. Every time I close it and come back they are all unchecked again.

The list of channels in your screenshot is the list from your EPG source.

You need to populate the right side list. Click the Map Channels button. Scan for channels. GBPVR will match scanned channels from the TV card with EPG channels. GBPVR may get some mappings wrong and may be unable to match others because of differences in the channel name used in the EPG and the channel name used in the broadcast and found by the TV card. You will be able to sort out the mismatches by clicking the arrow to the right of the right side channel name.

I tried to do this before I left for work this morning and it did not find any channels when it searched. Maybe it is something with the way that I setup my card. I selected Huappage 1600 (QAM) for the source and then the Digital Something (cannot remember off the top of my head). I will try to play with these settings more when I get home.

Does it work in WinTV? I'd recommend you start there to check that you have the cable connected right, the signal is strong enough and the right drivers are installed. I'd stay in WinTV until you see video there. Then go to config and do the scan. Stay in config until your scan is working, you see video in the scan window and you have channels mapped. After all that is set up and working you can go to PVRX2.

It does work in WinTV. I first had it in the very first spot for the cable connection and it was coming through very fuzzy so I moved it over to the second spot and it came through very clear. I was able to find all of the channels and everything.

I will play with the settings more and see if I can get it figured out.

I know nothing about using a channel changer with a set top box ... but it may be that this is where the problem lies.
