I'm new to the BDA side of GBPVR. I am totally lost on how to setup my Twinhan 102G for BEV. Just regular 91/82 behind an SW21. No disecq. I have been reading posts for days here and at DVBN. I first tried mythtv using the following excellent howto. Had it all running in under an hour.

http://dvbn.happysat.org/viewtopic.php?t=47946

But I really like GBPVR better. First, I have no idea how to even setup the catpure source. Can someone that has this working please give me some steps to get this working? Once I figure it out, I hope to post a howto for any future users.

I have tried installing the following.
Twinhan BDA drivers v.1.2.3.8 (2006. 05)
MDAPIFilter 2.2
EmuNation 3.0.5.1

Thanks

Some specific instructions will depend on your specific setup, more specifically what type of LNB you have. The attached transponder ini files are assuming you have a dishpro, you will need to drop the ini files in the GBPVR\BDA\DVB-S directory.

Put the ffdecsa.dll and mdapi.ax in gbpvr root directory and register mdapi.ax. Drop all emunation files into GBPVR\mdplugins folder.

Important: edit the config.xml in GBPVR root directory, look for the <BDATwinhanDiseqcMethod> entry and try changing the value to 2. If you find you have scanning problems you can try 0 (currently works for me), or 1.

In the GBPVR configuration GUI you need to go to the capture sources tab and add a new capture source for each sat 91 and 82. Use 'Digital Recording Plugin' as recording source and in the settings select your Twinhan DVB-S as device type and device number 1. Country doesn't matter but you must select the INI file for your dish using the Region/Transmitter dropbox. For dishpro the DVB-S LNB setup is:
  • LOF1 = 11250
  • Switch = 0
  • LOF2 = 11250
  • Powered (Enabled)
  • DiSEqC=A (BEV91) or DiSEqC=B (BEV82)

Scan the sat provider for channels by pressing the 'Map digitital channels to epg channels button.

For EPG Source just use DVB EPG Broadcast for now (you can play with XML EPG sources later).

As for setup, it's a standard HD single receiver BEV installation that they did. which is a dish with 2 LNB connected to an SW21 tone swtich. Then that is connected directly to my DBV card. I don't know what kind of LNB they are until I climb up to see. What should I be looking for?

So with an SW21, I assume that I need to create 2 capture sources except diseqc is set to "none"?

I'll also try some of the other settings you mentioned.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I setup Nimq1 as mentioned above except diseqc since I don't use one and it was able to scan channels. Now I need to figure out the best way to get EPG. Should I let it get it from DVB signal? I've seen old posts about a "tool" to help us with this and channel mapping for BEV.

I don't think you'll be able to switch between sats - you'll only be able to scan 1 sat (getting same channels twice?). With sw21 I think you need to use diseqc A and B like I mentioned.

As for EPG, just stick with DVB EPG source for now, it should work OK. Setting up XMLTV source will probably just add more confusion to someone new, but you can read-up on the wiki. However the XMLTV source for EPG does offer over 7-days worth of data compared to 2-days using DVB EPG source.
