I have just installed GBPVR on a friend's machine and cannot get the DVD, or live tv to work. When I try to run either of these functions the screen goes black, the pointer goes away and it stays that way until I push "back/exit" on the remote.
Both the DVD, and live channel TV work when I use the applications that installed with the Hauppauge MinTV-HVR-1600 so I believe the hardware is ok. I have tried numerous settings in the config, read the wiki, and copied settings from my working GBPVR installation, all to no avail:confused:

This is the hardware I'm using
Pentium 4@ 2800 Mhz
1024 MB RAM
GeForce FX 5200
Win xp Pro sp2
Hauppauge WinTV HVR 1600
GBPVR 1.2.13
160 GB disk

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Thanks, sub. Here are the logs. Also, i just updated the Nvidia drivers from the Dell drivers to Nvidia drivers. Without any change.

A few things from your logs:

The Settings screen not working is a known bug in this release. Its easily fixed by creating an empty 'skin' subdirectory in the gbpvr directory.

For live tv, enable live preview mode in the config app (Misc tab). Also make sure the live tv buffer directory specified in the config app exists.

For the DVD playback problem, I think the problem is the audio decoder you're using doesnt support AC3.

Thanks. It got me a little further. The 'settings' fix was spot on. Live Tv now comes on, but pretty much becomes unresponsive after that (doesn't accept input from keyboard or remote). As for the DVD I changed the audio decoder an now that's working.Smile I'll poke around a little before I post back. -- sorry what I meant is that I see static on the screen while it's unresponsive. so it accepting input from the antenna.--

Do the OSD graphics change when you press the up/down keys? (ie to tell you the new channel name)

If I begin with a channel that I know has a signal everything seems to be ok. I see the image and the guide info. The problem is that since I am using an antenna I sometimes hit a channel without a signal. At that point nothing I press on the remote or on the keyboard has any effect. I have tried to start to start GBPVR in 'windowed' mode so I can get myself out of trouble when it jams, but it always starts in full screen.

Sorry, but I suspect you're mistaken about what is actually happening. (otherwise we'd have seen others with the same problem)

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log, along with a brief description of what you tried and what happened, and I'll take a look.

I don't mind being mistaken Smile K here goes. I start watching TV by browsing to a channel that I know has a signal. No problem so far. I can see the channel and the channel number on the screen. I use the up or down channel button on the remote to change channel. If the next channel also comes in clearly I can watch it and see the channel number on the screen. When I get to a channel with static I 'seem' to get stuck. I don't see any number on screen as to which channel it is. If I press 'Back/Exit', 'stop', or 'menu' buttons I don't see anything on screen just the static.
I see the static changing so channels are going and down but I have to leave it for a long time before it gets back to the main screen.

What I would do is edit the capture source channel list to make sure only channels you really receive are enabled, and that they have a valid channel number listed. This should ensure that you dont see any snow channels. If there is still problems after that, then we'll go from there.

If you want to confirm which channels you receive over the antennea, and which channel numbers they are, then you can run the TuningAssistant utility.
