Custom tasks (from NMT/PCH)

I created a couple of Custom tasks in config, using powercfg to switch between two power schemes - one to turn standby/hibernate off, the other to turn it back on.
It works a treat run from the server but doesn't appear to be actioned if run from the PCH. (I can't be 100% sure, but I thought it did work from MVP).

Is this expected behaviour ? If not what could I be doing wrong as it works from the server menu.

I'm sure it'll be running them, but I have no way to know if what you're trying to run works from the localsystem user account.

Ah, thanks. Then I guess it's not going to work if powercfg requires admin rights.

tasks are:-

ExecuteMenuTask created: C:\WINDOWS\system32\powercfg.exe /s gbpvr
ExecuteMenuTask created: C:\WINDOWS\system32\powercfg.exe /s always_on

It would be the other way around, the task would be run with Local System rights, which is a little different. The issue is that it must be a non-interactive (no screen output or key input) app.

powercfg is a standard XP commandline only app. The only output from it would be if you specifically asked for it. The two examples I had above produce no output.

I've added 'everyone' to the authorised read/execute users and will have a try.


Ahhhhh - remote login in didn't spot it (the PCH and server are two floors apart) but dragging the two together shows that a DOS box flashes up momentarily on the server screen when the options are clicked on the PCH.

Does this make what I'm trying to do impossible then??

No. I'd start by adding a command line > C:\temp\martin.txt to read what is being output to the DOS box.

Slight correction to my previous message.

I meant to say the dos box flashes up on the screen when the menu is clicked on the server and seemingly not when run the the pch.

Martin, I can't add your suggested extra line to anywhere as it is within gbpvr itself rather than a bat or cmd file i.e. in the plugins > add a task screen.

There isn't a lot of options available - as below. I'm assuming it is sub that opens the dos box to run the addon??

I can executie a batch file containing powercfg from a task using cmd.exe as the program so tasks do run from the pch.
