I'm still confused about the 2250's ability to watch and record 2 analog channels....

Can I connect my local cable provider's coax cable (non digital, no cable box) to the 2250 via the analog input and map certain channels (cbs, nbc, abc, fox) as an analog recording source and then connect my Dish Network STB to the 2250 by the s-video input and map the rest of the channels (execpt the above listed channels) as another analog recording source and watch a channel from the STB while recording a channel from the cable provider?

My current configuration is a pvr-150 connected to the STB by s-video, GBPVR and IR blaster to control the STB, which works great....But I want the ability to record from the cable provider (reliable, but not the best quality), but I want to be able to watch the STB also (not reliable, but great quality)...

I know I can add another pvr-150 and do this but I'm trying to combine both into 1 slot...

Any help appreactiated,
Todd

I think, and this is from memory, that the analogue inputs are one input, it had dual analogue tuners but this refers to the tuners themselves - as in connected to an aerial and having to change the signal so that it can be viewed. Where as you are trying to input two different stb that have already done the tuning.

I may be corrected on this but that is my understanding

There is only 1 STB (Dish Network) which I want to connect to the s-video and use the IR blaster to control the STB...the other is a cable provider coax (no cable box) which I want to connect to the analog input and use the built in tuner...

Will this work? Anyone?

Tks

Yes it will work. Your cable company will most likely provide your local channels in unencrypted QAM, so you may want to capture them in digital HD instead (you don't need a cable box for clear QAM channels).

Is ther any way of knowing for sure that my cable company is providing unencrypted QAM channels for the basic package (2 thru 69)?

Paste your zip code and you'll see both OTA and QAM in your area. Personally, I've had no luck and I also got no help from my ISP but your mileage may vary.

For sure - no. Relatively certain - yes. You can check clear QAM channels on http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/channels

Yes. s-video only carries a standard def analog signal. It cannot carry digital or highdef.
