I noticed that my Philips TV pulls in a lot more digital stations. If the CRC options in the BDA "advanced" menu are disabled, Config then crashes when it reaches a nonblank channel.

I've been doing this during a rainstorm, with an amplified attic corner reflector UHF antenna. These conditions could be considered borderline weak signal, but the Philips pulls in the stations just fine.

I wonder if the superior ability of the Philips relates to handling bad CRC more gracefully? Is there anything you could look at?

More info. The above observations were with a Hauppage 2250 tuner. I switched to a 1250 tuner, which is observed to be much more sensitive. So it is not valid to conclude that CRC handling has anything to do with it. As to whether disabling CRC with the 1250 crashes, I have no observation. Conclusion: My original post may be about a 2250-specific phenomenon.
