I have an HVR-1800. After installing, TV Pack 2008 and making the the required Registry entry, GBPVR no longer works with QAM channels. Removing registry entry, GBPVR works with QAM channels again. Any workaround so I can use both MC and GBPVR?

REGEDIT4
;
; NOTE: this file should ONLY be used to enable Clear QAM support on Fiji
; (ie, "Windows Vista Media Center Feature Pack 2008")
;
; Using this file WILL break applications that only support the legacy "ATSC Network Provider"
; Apps must be recompiled to use the newer "MS Network Provider" if this file is used
;
; These keys control exposing support of Fiji compatible QAM for various ATSC products
; (of course, the HW products must be physically capable of supportting QAM!!!)
;
; You MUST restart you system after this file is installed for the changes to take effect

I think you may have just solved the problem a few users are having with QAM.

Try editing the following in config.xml under "BDA Settings" and set it to true (or add it if it doesn't exist):

Code:
<BDAUseGenericNPForATSC>true</BDAUseGenericNPForATSC>

Changing the registry key manually isn't a big problem. It's the reboot which is currently required after making the registry change which is the pain in the butt.

Very interesting! I'm having the same exact problem and on 2 systems. I test Vista Media Center for MS so I need to have that working but love GBPVR so I'm now going to have to think up a plan.
I have ther 1600 and the 2250 as well as an ATI650 Pro (that gives me headaches). I couldn't figure out what the problem is but I will admit, I was having problems with QAM even before I installed the TVPack. I'm pretty sure those were ISP related.
I think I read on the Green Button that this reg hack would mess with WinTV but I didn't care about that so I went for it. Hope someone can think of something. It's outta my pay grade.

That entry didn't work. I also noticed that when scanning for channels it does not find any either. It runs through each digital channel real quick which is not normal.

Can you zip and post your config*.logs showing the scan?

For me, it found plenty with my ATI tuner but none with any Hauppauge. None of the ones found with the ATI stuck though. In fact, none of the channels that came up matched any with the DCT's that I have. I'm still thinking some of my problems are ISP related. From what I've read on the Cox forums, some of the areas supported by Cox have a lot more QAM to offer than my area (New Orleans).

I reran the QAM scan using the QAM.ini file Center Frequencies and so far, have already come up with 256 channels. It's probably every single channel Cox offers so most will be encrypted but how does one know what these channels really are? The numbers aren't similar to anything I've seen with Media Center.

Check silicon dust for the channels to expect

http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/channels

And here is a table of frequencies I expect those are in the 54-56 range
