They're great people but I do need my space. I'll be an in law one day so I know what to expect.

Would adding the line,SHARED_NAME=Hauppauge HVR2250 cause the QAM manager not to work? Each time I try a different tab, I get the same scan (1-68) the other frequencies no longer show up when using different tabs. It was working earlier tonite and all I've done is to add that line.
If I had to pay for each scan I made, I'd be poorer than the stock market.

Also, I have to wonder if my problem with using Schedules Direct now have anything at all to do with my QAM issues. I'm probably over thinking (that's new for me) but I don't know why it's working so damn well in Media Center but not in GBPVR.

Nope, shouldn't affect it but if it's only scanning 1-68, you probably selected the OTA entry [Hauppauge HVR-2250] and not the QAM entry [Hauppauge HVR-2250 (QAM)] as your capture source. Make sure you add the "Shared" line under both sections in your bda.ini

SD issues won't matter. That will only affect your guide data.

So, that was my next question - that line needs to be added to BOTH sections?

Also, questions regarding the EPG listings and channels. Do I disable the channels that the tuner CAN'T tune, i.e., do I uncheck all the analog channels on the digital capture device, and vice versa for the analog capture device? If so, where does analog end and digital begin?

While I'm posting questions in preparation for my step into the D-Side (digital side!), how can I correct incorrect EPG data coming down from SchedulesDirect? If I edit it in the database, will it be overwritten or lost during the next EPG update? I reported an error to them (I need to log in to see if there is anything more I need to do).

On an analog capture source you should disable any channels it cant tune. You'll often be able to tell from the channel number. ie the first 65 or so might be analog, and everything else digital.

On the digital capture source the app will automatically disable any channels you've not mapped at the end of the scan.

Yes, I only added that line to the QAM section but not the OTA section. I'll correct that as well.
Thanks

It should be in both sections but if you don't put it in the section that you are not using, it doesn't break anything. The next release of GBPVR will have it in both sections because I'm sure sub has updated the master file with it.

Analog channels are usually the channels in the 1-99 range. You don't need to disable channels in your digital capture device. Channels that don' have a tuning string will automatically be disabled in a digital capture device.

Since you are using Schedules Direct, there is a trick you can use. In your Schedules Direct account you should have two lineup options for your cable company. One for standard analog cable and one for Digital cable which will include all the analog channels. For example, I have the following (Type is in parentheses):
  • Insight Communications (Cable)
  • Insight Communications - Digital (CableDigital)
I added both lineups to my Schedules Direct account and in the CableDigital lineup I disabled all the 1-99 channels (my analog).

Now if I edit each of those lineups, the url in the browser's address bar will be:
Code:
http://www.schedulesdirect.org/lineups/edit/
and will have a code for the lineup after it.

In my analog capture source's EPG setup, I edit the username and place a semicolon and then the lineup code:
Code:
username[U];KY16673:-[/U]
Now, when I pull the listings, it will only list those channels for that capture source.

Note: you will need to delete your existing channels in the capture source or delete and recreate the capture source before doing this.

I'm using iXMLTV - can I have it pull 2 separate lineups with it?

OK, why then when I put it in the QAM section was I then able to tune two analog channels at the same time, whereas before I couldn't?

I don't use iXMLTV so someone else will need to answer that.

Don't you have the it configured for QAM? That line tells GBPVR that that tuner can tune both digital and analog. If you had added the line to the non QAM digital entry and not the QAM, when you configured the capture source for QAM, it would not have worked.
