Which codecs are people using? I'm tired of installing codec packages, then trying to uninstall them when they don't work or work better.

So, after you install GBPVR, are there certain codecs you install? What about TS or AC3 codecs?

I use the Nvidia codecs and have for a long while with no problems. Not getting QAM yet but when I was using the ATSC side, I had no problems.
I've found that having too many codecs installed can almost be as bad as not having any. Some of the so called 'codec packs' have caused problems for me in the past.

You mean the PureVideo codecs? My MB and Video card are both nVidia based.

What's the difference between TS Mux and Full TS?

You should only use TS Mux. The 'Full TS' option is for producing very large debug transport streams for me.

I totally agree with Paul, as far as codecs go, less is more. I installed AC3 by itself, not from a codec pack. I also added the ATI mux and the MPEG2decfilter and that is it. I also have whatever Hauppauge and Twinhan added during their installs. I now have dvb, qam and analog all working. I had tons of crashes before this. I ended up doing a complete windows reinstall and then only added what I needed. Now the system is stable.

Where did you get the codecs from? There are lots of competing codecs out there. Which version and what company?

I use the MPV/MPA codecs. I have "Bob" deinterlace set as though TV looked good some DVDs didn't.

I tried the PureVideo but they didn't work well at all and since MPV/MPA was working well I just went back to them. You can get them at freecodecs.com

i use ffdshow and avivo...[atidvcr.dll] as ati's avivo utilizes both decoder and deinterlacer, and ffdshow just looks smooth..Smile [ffdshow must be set to 'set interlace flag in output' and select bob or auto on newer ffdshows...very efficient...and does divx/etc too...
ati avivo does tons of formats but it says not dvd,[tho i have gotten it to work]

avivo does work on other video cards, i use it on an intel 965 also..Smile
[but rocks! on my low profile 3450]

also have Cyberlink codecs from powerdvd for blu-ray..tho they don't work as well for tv..[?!]
[looks perfect on bluray!]
