Quote from the page - also, it's the last download link for WinXP.

Downloaded this installer - KB942288-v4 but when trying to install I get this error message,
Quote:The version of Windows you have installed does not match the update you are trying to install.

Looks like the repair install might be the only way to get this fixed. This will have to wait until the weekend or next week when I might have more time to do the backups first.

I've found that the 100% CPU usage installer issue is caused (well for me anyway) by Comodo's Memory Firewall program (anti-buffer overflow)

Once I un-installed that, I was able to install the update for GB-PVR. After that I then reinstalled CMF.

I've posted this information on Comodo's forum and hopefully they'll look into it.

I've found that near 100% CPU usage with Windows installer is NORMAL! Whenever I am installing something, I cannot hardly use my PC at all because the installer service is such a resource hog! On ANY PC running WinXP, and even Vista is affected!

I have noticed that on some occasions but this error is not the same. This is a definite conflict with Comodo Memory Firewall.

With CMF installed, the GB-PVR installer can run for hours until your room has heated up from your CPU running full tilt and it still won't have done anything.

If you don't believe me, download CMF and try it out yourself.

There was also a problem with CMF and .Net conflicting and causing 100% CPU usage in a certain scenario (might have also been the installer for that too) The details are on Comodo's forums.

I just thought of another program that causes this - Outlook! If I have Outlook running, any windows installer program seems to hang at the very end of extracting the files. If I kill Outlook, it blows right through the install!

Cheers mate, that indeed was the problem. Uninstalled CMF installed GBPVR no problem, AT LAST. Big Grin

Just doing a new config and testing fully.

I will put a post on Comodo's forum too.

Thanks a lot. InverseChaos
