(Moved from the support forum... seemed to belong here)

I saw the other thread about the 801e SE but none of the possible solutions in that thread workd... and the OP didn't seem to ever get it resolved. So I thought I'd start a new thread.

I have an 801e SE connected to analog cable on a WinXP Pro SP3 machine. It works fine with the Pinnacle application and with Beyond TV 4. However, I cannot get it to work with GB-PVR 1.3.7.

I have tried modifying bda.ini and direct.ini with what I think are the correct filters and input/output names as seen in filtercheck.log. I have gotten as far as GB-PVR detecting the stick with the "only detected on this machine" checkbox checked, I have successfully set up the EPG and it initiates and completes a channel scan. However, it doesn't appear to find any channels and trying to watch live TV results in a screen with the channel number and program info but no video and no audio.

I also see that the LED on the 801e is not lit, so it does not appear to be powered.

If I start the Pinnacle application and view video, the LED lights, but goes out again when I close the Pinnacle application even if I immediately try to use GB-PVR while the LED is still on.

There must be something fundamentally wrong here but my hacking attempts have so far failed Can anyone help? I can't help but notice that almost no one is using Pinnacle sticks here.... are they perhaps simply not compatible with the GB-PVR interface? I hope not.... the stick works great, although the supplied Pinnacle application is a joke.

Thanks,
Paul

Do a scan then post the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

Sorry, I'm new to GB-PVR.... what exactly do you mean by "perform a scan"? And should I delete the logs first? I have been doing a lot of hacking trying to get the stick to work.

I'll post something tomorrow AM... first chance I'll have to do it.

BTW, I can't tell you how impressed I am with the basics of this software.... and the level of support you provide here. If I can get this to go I'll be happy to make a donation. I'm currently playing with the trial version of BeyondTV, which is working great. But it is $100 and GB-PVR looks like it can do just about everything BeyondTV can do, so I'll send some of the savings your way.

When you hit the 'map digital channels to epg channels' button it should perform scan. Zip and attach those logs after that. You dont need to delete them first.

Well, I could not find a 'map digital channels to epg channels' button.... possibly because I am tuning analog cable channels? If I open the tuning assistant and perform a scan, it acts as though it is scanning but does not find any channels.

While it is scanning, the 801e is unpowered (LED off). In fact, it never turns on under GB-PVR. It does work correctly under the Pinnacle app and under BeyondTV.

I have attached bda.ini, direct.ini and filtercheck.log as well as the .inf file from the Pinnacle driver folder, in case that helps. The GB-PVR *.ini files have been modified to add an entry for "801e SE ananlog" .... did I do it correctly?

Note that upon entering Tuning Assistant, I get a "Connect Failed" and then a "Failed to connect pinNameCrossbarAudioDecoderOut to pinNameCaptureAudioIn" message. Not sure if this is because the 801e is not powered?

Other than the above, it ACTS as if it was working. If I tell it to tune a channel and watch live TV, I do not get error messages and the viewing window opens with channel information. But there is no video and no audio.

Thanks for the help so far.

Sorry.... forgot to post the logs you actually asked for Wink Here ya go. This is after a channel scan that did not power the stick and did not return any channels.

Ah, sorry. This device isnt going to be usable in GB-PVR for analog - it lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder.
