1600 or HDPVR? May be switching to fios

Just got a Panasonic 37" for $900, and will upgrading my hardware to take advantage of it.

Of the two HD options, which would people suggest? I could live w/o recording in HD. I really want to make sure it works well & easily.

The wife and I talked tonight, and I think we're going to skip the TV aspect for now. Your post, along w/ plenty of others, just make me feel like the HD part of the PVR experience is not quite (pardon the pun) ready for prime-time yet.

For now, I think I'm going to do the DVR to deal w/ TV. I'm not ditching GB, though. I'm going grab a Radeon HD 3650 so I get h264 media and salvage my existing AGP box and still watch the media I download (and home vids, photos, music, and the rest of the GB goodness). I'll grab a ditigal audio splitter so I can share the reciever w/ the STB and the DVR.

I think the whole industry is a step away from making a DVR more like a HTPC, or HTPC able to handle HD fully, and I'm hoping I can buy just enough time before I re-do all my hardware.
