I am trying to install Comskip. So far, I've got it running but when it processes a file I get thousands of error messages in the log file with the message

"faac: codec init failed."

I killed the program when the log file got to 300KB or so.

I found on SourceForge where I can download the source for faac but not a compiled executable (because of patent reasons).

Can anyone tell me how to either get the faac codec or have Comskip run with another codec.

Did you copy the libfaad2.dll from the comskip distribution zip file next to comskip.exe?

Yes I copied it to the GBPVR directory, but in the ZIP file I downloaded it was called ff_libfad2.dll.

Do I have to rename it?

UPDATE: I tried renaming it and COmskip wasn't happy at all and wanted ff_libfad2.dll.

No need to rename,
Could you upload a short recording that shows this problem?
PM me for the upload details

Indeed the demuxer fails to correctly detect the type of the input streams
Is it an option to use one of the 0.79.xxx builds? They work on this sample.

I switched to build 79-144 and tried it by dragging some files over ComskipGUI and it worked in each case. I wish all fixes were that easy. I've set GBPVR to automatically do Comskip processing and will see how tonight's recordings go.

It also seems to be dealing with another problem I have been having lately occasionally, i.e. timeline problems where Skip Ahead 1 Minute would only go a few seconds. The LOG file indicated many places with "Audio PTS Jumped" and "repairing timeline" messages.

I do suspect that my Cable provider, that I am forced to use, is only providing a mono audio signal. I noticed in the Revision History that mono audio had been an issue for Comskip at one point.

Thanks for your help. Now I can experiment with the many tunings of Comskip.
