I am having trouble and have been scratching my head for a while trying to figure this out. I have a hard drive installed in my NMT and I want to be able to play them through GBPVR so I have a single interface for my wife. Here's my issue:

Currently I'm able to see all of my DVDs but I'm not able to play the ones that I didn't convert to .mp4. DVDs that I backed up to the NMT hard drive so that I could play them with a menu, when I select the DVD, for example [Aliens], it takes me into another window. From there, I see Aliens.dvd. When I select that, it causes the PCH to go to a window that makes it look like it's loading but then it kicks me back into GBPVR. Aliens, in this example, plays fine from the PCH menu as well as from a PC. It's just not working correctly from GBPVR. If I select a movie that I converted to .mp4, those play just fine.

Any ideas????

If you have configured the PCH using IP notation in config.xml \\xx.x.xx.xx this should in theory happen automatically.

If you configured a drive letter you will need to configure this manually in gbpvr.cgi something like

ln -s /opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/HARD_DISK /mnt/Z\:

Hi Martin,
I modified the config.xml and put the IP of the NMT. Here's what it looks like:
<VideoLibraryDirectory>My Videos~C:\MyVideos|PopcornHour2~\\192.168.1.240\share\Video|</VideoLibraryDirectory>

Based on that, do I need to place anything in any of the startup scripts for PCH? I'm thinking no because the MP4 videos are working just fine. It's just strange that when I select the .dvd file, PCH goes to a PCH screen as if it's loading and then after about 10 seconds or so it kicks back to GBPVR.

This is something I coded one evening when I read that sharing of the USB was going to be possible and I never tested it, I don't remember if /share was the mount point. If it doesn't work zip up the logs and I will have a look but you need to tell me if via telnet you see your folders this way

ls /share

and your files this way

find /share

It appears there is already a soft link called share. When I issue "ls /share" I see all of the folders on the hard drive.

Are you saying that PCH should see that the destination itself and automatically redirect to the hard drive instead of from my PC and then back to PCH?

I ran out of time this morning but will check it out first thing when I get home. I'll capture the logs and post.

It should see the source as being in /share but we can wait and see. For regular video files you should be able to see if it working by hitting info, if GBPVR is streaming it you with see http://... and if it is playing directly it will show /share ...

Well, looks like the PCH doesn't see that the stream is from itself. When I launch a .mp4, it plays fine. I then hit info and it has the http://192.168... as the source.

One other thing to note, I'm not seeing any recent log activity during this testing. I see it if I access from a MVP or from my PC but not from the PCH. I'm only running one autostart server.

One other strange thing is, I had some old mounts that I used during testing and the PCH isn't clearing them when I reboot it by turning the power switch off then back on. How do I go about cleaning those up as well?

BTW, Thanks for all your help so far. This has been a great learning experience.

I am going to need logs to debug this. I might have messed up the share. Stop the recording service delete all the logs and the start the recording service, duplicate the play of the mp4 file and send the whole log folder.

You can delete shares on the pch like you add the on the setup screen.
