Sub, I also updated my drivers to the latest beta so that I could record in 5.1. In live tv I had video but no audio and my recordings also wouldn't play though gbpvr. I have reinstalled the old drivers and I am looking forward to the next version of gbpvr.

aestabrook, I was in your shoes a few months ago and would be happy to help you out.

Quote:Do I need a high end video card to play back the recordings on the tv?
No, I have the Nvidia 8500 GT and it handles it just fine.

Quote:How do i use the GB PVR guide instead of the bright house one?
I don't know what you are asking.

I have heard in other forums that a 64-bit os may give you a bit of troubles but its up to you.

I can't get the IR blaster to work for the life of me. I have the SA 8300HD, but it won't change the channel. So i'm at a point now where I can record, but cant change teh channel. I'd like it so when i push guide on the remote, i see the pvr guide, not stb. WHat do you suggest I do?

I need to know more about your problem. Can you control the stb with blastcfg? Have you set the channel changer in gbpvr to haupblast.exe? I had problems with it too so I bought one from irblaster.info. The USB-UIRT is even better. Check out:

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardw...nelChanger

You need to use the remote that came with the HD PVR to control gbpvr. The setup is fairly simple just search through the forum and wiki.

as of right now, i cannot control the stb with the ir blaster. i've set it to the exe, i cant even get the hauppauge blaster app to change the channel. im able to see the guide from the web interface, if i start a recording, itll record as 0kb, wont be able to play it. should i get rid of xp64 and install 32 bit? you think thats where the problem is?

Yes, I would install the 32 bit version. That will make the setup easier.

Do you have other Hauppauge devices with IR Blaster hardware too? I found all my blasters stopped working after installing the HD-PVR. In the end I had to use Hauppauge's utility for blowing all Hauppauge devices and registry settings away and start over from scratch, installing the HD-PVR first. Things worked after that.

Well, I think I am getting an HD-PVR for xmas. I just signed up for comcast hd and have a motorola dch3200 STB up and running. After reading the horror stories of the HD-PVR, I hope I get one that doesnt overheat!!

I would like to use liveTV and record in GB-PVR since I like the interface much better than comcast's guide(ads included). Ive heard of people suggesting to use firewire to tune thier channels so its quicker than irblasting. How would I configure the channel changer for the HD-PVR source to use firewire connection to the STB?

I see alot of people recording with HD-PVR but none using liveTV. Does anyone even use liveTV with HD-PVR? If so, is channel chaning that bad? Just curious what the experience is like.

I use Live TV, see my post here:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=37300

I have a different STB than you, but you should be able to follow what I did substituting yours. It was easier than I thought and has been working perfectly for me since I posted that 3 months ago!

You don't need to HD-PVR to get the basic setup working with the channel changing part, you could do some experimenting before christmas and have it ready to roll when you get the gift. Wink
