I'm using GB PVR v 1.0.16 on both the main PC (Athlon X2-5000, XP Pro sp2) and the client (HP dv6000 laptop, Vista Home Prem. sp1). I'm also running 3 Hauppauge MVP's using GB PVR with the XP box as the server, and everything works flawlessly.... EXCEPT, the new HP laptop, that I want to run in client mode, just to watch live TV from the server, will not run with the client box checked in config. If I uncheck the client box, it runs, and plays stored MPEG's off of the server fine. It makes no difference whether I choose streaming or file sharing, as long as the configure as client box is checked, neither GBPRV or PVRX2 will run (GBPVR gets as far as the splash screen, then disappears, and is not running in task manager, and PVRX2 gets as far as a window border, then hangs and has to be stopped with task manager, along with the tray app. Anyone have any ideas....??
Note: the trial version of Beyond TV works well in client mode.

Logs attached.

Can you enable log flushing, then reproduce the error and repost the logs?

Sub...
I checked the "Flush log messages to disk" box and launched PVRX2. The zipped logs are attached. I hope this is what you wanted.... if you need anything else, please let me know.

Thanks again....

It looks like it cant see the database at the shared directory you specified. ie, its trying to find "\\ATHLON-XP2\Devnz\GBPVR\gbpvr.db3". It looks like this path is not correct from your client.

\\ATHLON-XP2\Devnz\GBPVR is the path to the server from using the browse button within config. In other words, I didn't type it, I browsed to it and selected it. I also tried editing that path manually to the full path......\\ATHLON-XP2\F:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR but it made no difference...... also tried sharing whole Program files folder. Latest Logs attached. Does the whole drive on the server have to be shared, or just the devnz folder? I thought that as long as I browsed to it from within the application, it would be able to find it.

usually people would share the "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr" directory as "gbpvr" and the server name would be set to "\\ATHLON-XP2\gbpvr", but sharing the devnz directory should also have been ok.

....setting up a client on a totally different desktop machine on my wired network, running XP Pro sp2 and have the same result. To me, this sounds like there's something wrong in the server setup, yet the 3 MVP's work fine.
I also tried turning off my firewall..........Any more ideas....??

I walked someone through a client setup here.http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=39301
you could see if any of it matches your situation.
