I just started using GBPVR. After numerious tries I have gotten it to work.
I was able to add the 950Q usb stick as a digital qam device, scan and add channels.

The 950Q usb also has the ability to pick up the cable analog channels also. I have this working in WinTV (It scans both).

BUT GBPVR only scans the QAM channels. I tried to add the 950Q a second time but could not find a selection for it other than the QAM selection.

How can I get the analog channels (scan them in) in GBPVR for the 950Q usb device?

Thanks

First, that device does not have a hardware MPEG-2 encoder so it really isn't supported with GB-PVR for analog (in a sense GB-PVR doesn't do analog at all: it depends on the tuner device to encode the analog stream to MPEG-2 before GB-PVR sees it). It MAY work with 1.3.7 if you install the SoftMCE driver included on the latest Hauppauge CD.

You'll also need to add an entry for your tuner into the direct.ini file; support for SoftMCE devices is new with 1.3.7 (and expiremental at that), and I think only one or two such devices made it into the direct.ini file.

If you view the following thread, serisman sorted out how to add the HVR-1250 (another Hauppauge ATSC/NTSC tuner which lacks a hardware encoder) to the direct.ini file; you may be able to adapt those entries for the 950Q.

See this thread:

That's for the 950 (not Q). Give it a try; if the analog side of the 950 and 950Q are the same, it should work fine. If it doesn't work, they may be able to help you with the 950Q.

Hi,
I got the 950Q analog working. I've posted the setup here:
