File Compatability

FOr some reason, Quicktime does not recognize gb-pvr's MPG files as movie files. I would like to be able to play these files on the mac attached to the network, but more importantly, edit them in iMovie. I can play them in VLC on the mac, but iMovie requires Quicktime. The error I get is that quicktime cannot parse the file or that the file is not a movie file. Any suggeations? Thanks

I understand the problem now - iMovie does not read muxed MPEG-2 files. I know gbpvr can be set to automatically transcode files. What would be the best setting to get demuxed MPEG4 files instead of the muxed MPEG2?

You lose a lot of quality transcoding. Personally I prefer to leave files in their original format. You may need to look into doing it though if your other iMovie isnt up to it.
