I have recently (last night) upgraded to 1.3.11 and had hoped it would solve a problem I have had for a while in version 1.1.5, but alas no.

On the whole the MVP interface is brilliant but when I skip (>|) or press (>>) whilst watching a recording on the MVP I often (but not always) have two problems.

1) Sometimes the audio gets out of sync by a fraction of a second. This can sometimes be corrected by stopping the playback and resuming it. If that fails pressing the replay (|<) button once or twice usually sorts it out.

2)Sometimes, usually after half an hour or so of recording playback, the (>|), (|<), (>>) and (<<) buttons stop working correctly. It starts when the skip button only moves playback on by 2 seconds or so and this degenerates until it actually makes the playback go backwards to a point before the current (much like a rewind button should). Nothing seems to resolve this for a particular recording. If I play another recording the problem doesn't appear but reverting back to one which exhibited the problem and it returns immediately.

I can supply any logs that you think may be helpful - just let me know which.

My PC is a 3.0 Ghz P4 with 2Gb RAM servicing 2 MVP's

I would appreciate any help,
Regards

Do you have a Hauppauge 150 card in your system? This smells like the hauppauge 150 driver audio sync problem. If you do a search for that you'll find the solution very quickly.

Blinking 'eck Sub that was quick!

I have a DVICO Fusion HDTV Dual and a Hauppauge Nova-t PCI.

I don't know if it matters but I don't have these problems on the PC where gb-pvr is located only on the MVP and I haven't seen it watching live-tv.

In your earlier post where you had problems with the 1.3.7 you had a file that was transcoding a recording ts to mpeg2 on-the-fly. I've never had a lot of success on the MVP navigating these files.

I was also thinking it might be the PVR150 thing HtV mentioned above, but it wont be with those cards.

Are you transcoding the TS to MPEG as suggested in Martins post above?

Hi Martin and Sub,

This could be me that doesn't understand all the concepts but the way I understand it I have gb-pvr set up to record in mpeg2 format and so I think I am playing mpeg2 when playing recordings.

My earlier problem was with a brief attempt at 1.3.7 and when I tried to watch live tv I got a black screen then it reverted to the menu (on the MVP this is) this problem went away when I went back to 1.1.5 and had not happened with 1.3.11

I checked again and your 1.3.7 logs definitely showed TS mux. If you changed to a new mux i n the last couple of days, the mux could definitely be causing a timeline.

Having just looked at the wiki I think the problem reported in my earlier post could have been due to me doing a clean install of 1.3.7 which I believe defaults to the ts multiplexer and me not realising this and forgetting about the ts to mpeg transcoding - and from what Martin says this probably caused my previous problem. But in my 1.1.5 config I had the cyberlink BDA Multiplexer selected. With 1.3.11 I installed it over 1.1.5 and have just checked and it is the cyberlink multiplexer that is selected.

Just to be clear, at the moment (and previously with 1.1.5) live tv worked fine with few (if any) problems. The problem reported in this thread occurs when watching recordings made in gb-pvr.

Thanks for the rapid answers,

Terence

So what TS Mux is recommended? I've got "TS MUX' "Full TS" and "Microsoft DVR-MS" available.

(I'm on Vista, Fast processor, 4GB of ram, and viewing Live TV via a MVP)
