sub, not sure if its 100% polite to ask in another's thread, but I am trying to record 2 channels w/ a card configed with QAM & an analog tuner. (ati 650) do I have the same restriction, that the T codes need to be the same ? I am scheduling a local channel & a cable broadcast.

I believe this is the log you requested. I went to the guide selected wfld-dt and set record. I then went to nbc5 dt and set to record and then got the tuner conflict.

@ van helsing

You may want to see if the latest updates release a few days ago in 1.3.11 will help you.

@ phillyk

You can record multiple OTA (Antenna) or multiple QAM channels if they are both set up as sub described.

I can see if checking if multi-record is possible, and deciding it isnt, and logging the code of why it wasnt possible, but I'm away from home today so cant check which of the few reasons for it were. If you bump this thread tomorrow, I'll tell you want the reason was.

Hrm. so if theres multiple OTA channels, and I have 2 inputs to my card, (but it is not a true Dual Tuner)
I technically cannot record 2 OTA.. I could record an OTA & a QAM. .. SHould channels like Discovery be on my QAM? Mayhaps my QAM input isn't working correctly yet? I'll have to play with that tonight. Imagn, thanks for the help!

I am not quite following your above,

TO clarify,
1) If you have a duel tunner (let us know what card you have) you can record 1 show per tuner. If your channels are set up like sub described on the same frequencies, then you can use multi record to record more than 1 channel as long as they are both on the same frequencies.

Ie i have a hvr1600 and a 950Q both are set up as QAM. I have 2 channel an frequency X and 2 channels on frequency Y. Either tuner can use its one digital tuner, and record both channels at once that are either on frequency X or Y.

If you have OTA set up as described above it will work too.

As for what channels are on QAM its usually only the locals plus a couple other pbs types.

Ok, so basically, unless my card is a true dual tuner, which the ATI 650 pro is not, I can only record "digital" broadcast's with 1 of the 2 input's & analog with the other.
AND, if I do not have digital cable, then I cannot do anything with the second tuner input. .. I totally should have bought a hauppage. these ATI are not worth *insert foul word*.

I have a Q, why is it, when I try to set my source to Analog Hi-def, my Ati card is not a choice. It is supposed to be a hi-def tuner card? Or should I revisit my previous statement & try to think of a reason to buy a hauppage? I totally blame my lame impulse buying self...

Pretty much all cards are the same, unless they explicitly advertise multiple tuners, like the Hauppauge HVR-2250 etc. Most Hauppauge cards are the same as this ATI.

This card can do hi-def digital, but is just standard definition analog. Pretty much every device on the market is the same. The only real exception is the Hauppauge HD-PVR, which has component video inputs and accepts highdef analog up to 1080i - but this device doesnt do digital etc.
