Tuner Number added to the recorded file name?

I have 3 different tuner types in my system, PVR150's, 1600 and a hdhomerun.
I get recordings that have video that won't playback correctly on occasion.

It would help in debugging if I could tell which tuner recorded the video.

Could the tuner number be added to the file name or somewhere else?

Sorry, its unlikely I'd add this, but you can check the GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log to tell which capture source made the recording.

It's in the logs if you see the problem in time before they roll over. e.g. below. OID is the relative tuner number, so oid4 is my 4th tuner in teh config list

I did read the suggestions, but they werent really something I wanted to add. Sometimes I just find it easier to give no response rather than having to give negative news ...sorry

My second thought is that the recording service could periodically check the length of the recorded file, and if it is not changing, issue a warning and/or try to switch to another tuner if available.

It does this to a limited degress already. It'll check the status of recording after 30 seconds to check that its growing normally. If not, it'll restart the recording. Most failed recordings failed to start altogether, rather than failing mid recording, so this is usually enough to catch it.

Yes, the logs will report if the recording is restarted.

There are several scenarios where a recording can fail and the recording service is not made aware of it. Loss of signal midway through is one of them. GBPVR will think that the recording completed successfully.

And all of these scenarios have one outcome: the length of the recording does not agree with the time span between the start and the end of it. If only this info (the actual length of the recording) could be shown on 'Whats new' screen together with all the other recording info, it would provide the early warning. If the recorder used was also shown, you would know immediately what to fix!
