Interesting I just did a search & yes it's set as "true" & I have never changed it....what does it do? I have (obviously) been using MLPanel for a while now & never seen a problem before.

Quote:As for ts files, in many ways I regret that sub added this support even though I asked for if for so long. I think people's expectations were a little too high and the reality is proving to be a little disappointing.

I think you are wrong regretting asking for it, I would say a lot of people are/will be using it & once they find the limitations will find they can live with it just fine.

I still think a large portion of the problems people are having with digital payback is the recorded file has issues & it is nothing to with the actual playback itself. This is why I took your advice to postprocess the .ts files as I couldn't get any of the mux's to produce decent recordings consistently I suspect I am having the same issue with .ts recordings.......now if I could just find something decent to automatically check the recordings & if they have problems clean them up so they would skip properly I would be happy.

Just another quick follow up if anyone is following this thread....

mvallevand Wrote:Is it possible that you have incremental updates set to true? mlpanel doesn't work with it?

In my case it was more than just MLPanel that didn't work with it! Setting it to false & then re-enabling the <MVPWidth> <MVPHeight> <MVPOffsetX> <MVPOffsetY> settings for the specific MAC address & the menus etc. are all fine now....finally after three weeks something that actually works for me Big Grin Now on to getting the birds TV to display properly Smile

A further follow-up to the recodrings length and skipping problem with ts mux.

You may be right Jaggy, about the signal strength. I have found that the 2 or 3 channels I get with low signal strength SOMETIMES exhibit the 'random skipping' problem when recorded with TS Mux. They will sometimes show 1 second length (forget about skippimg in this case) or they show the correct length but skipping takes you back to the start of the file. Sometimes the comskip file causes it to skip commercials that don't exist. It appears to skip the correct number of frames, it's just the the start frame is not the commercial start. It can sometimes be out by a minute or so.

To sum up, there are no problems with recording reported length or skipping when the signal strength is sufficient. Low signal strength has led to problems for me.

Using DVR-MS has not exhibited these problems.

just reviving this thread with some new developments after testing.

I have one digital channel in Australia (Prime) that constantly exhibits the miss-reported recording length and will not skip properly when recorded with TS Mux (playback via MVP). When played back, it starts approx. midway through recording and will not skip forwards or back with any consistency.

Renaming to MPG does not work, same symptoms. I have re-arranged antenna to receive with full signal strength. All other channels are fine with TS Mux.

I can upload a segment if anyone wants to have a look.

I will be happy to look at a 20 MB chunk, but make sure that segment fails too.

Martin

Sent message with download details.

Have not had a chance to check that it fails as yet. All previous recordings from this channel have failed though. Will check it tonight and post if results.

Thanks.

Ok, got the file and it is quite good DVD quality. I'm impressed, the digital SD I see here are 1/3 that. You are right GB-PVR doesn't seem to manage the timeline probably because of the teletext streams in the source. If I remux them out with TSRemux or TS4NP the file does play ok.

I did try the file in mvpmc native mode and on the PCH and it plays fine on both but it is not seekable in mvpmc

Thanks Martin, at least now I know it is not due to my setup here.

Sub, if you are monitoring and want a copy of the file to look at or test, let me know & I will send link to download.

Thanks guys.
