the alpha release will at least be a month away.

im moving next week so wont really have a chance to do much for a week or so.

but the main milestones to do before the alpha are
1. finish the installer to create the database on sqlce and sql server 2005+
2. finish the onscreen keyboard (very important for metadata lookups from the net)
3. make it more stable (it crashes in a few places, but i mostly know where these are and how to fix them)
4. add more animations (i want to make it apple-ish with their animations, like shake the keypad left to right (as if you were nodding no) for incorrect passwords etc).
5. speed it up (slow to load the first time you open it, well about 3 seconds to open for me)
6. need to implement filesystem watching, so if a directory is created/removed/whatever it automatically is visible on the screen (this is partially implemented atm).

i really want to get the database locked down before i do a release, mainly because i dont want to deal with upgrading the database at the moment but i havent made any changes to that for a while, it seems to have everything i need it to have.

really comes down to how long it takes me to setup my new place and how much free time i have thereafter. as it is, its pretty well there though.

just setting up my new development machine (had to move the old one too the bedroom so i could watch tv in bed )

there are still a few bugs, but i may release it in its near state, in the hopes that a version is actually out and people are reporting bugs will give me a good kick up the arse to do some more work on it.

basically i just want to fix one or 2 more bugs, finish the installer (which is pretty much done), do the blue skin (currently its using the community3 skin - i think i can just copy these files over and thats basically it for the blue skin...) and then ill do an alpha release.

if anyone wants to use the alpha i highly recommend using sql server 2005 express or above. sql server 2005 express is free from microsoft and its a much better database than sql server compact edition. but the compact edition is just a single file and requires no installation.
in future releases i might include a bootstrapper for the sql server express edition and automatically download, install and configure it for novices.

That was the last programming language that I learned (back in high school) and decided I didn't want to do that for a living.
