I tried in Vista and got no QAM. Went into W7, used the July 2008 drivers (I think that's what's included in the setup install) and got QAM just fine when I could not in GBPVR and WinTV 6. I then switched to the latest pre-release drivers (1/26/09) and could only get analog.
How do they put out updated software that used older drivers? Anyway, there's still a question on whether TVpack breaks QAM for other software.
If you search your registry, do you find a setting called "AllowQAM_powertoy"?

I'll check tonite and reply back.
Just for kicks this weekend I tried a fresh XP updated to SP3 and nothing else but WinTV7 and got all QAM stations I should. Loaded up GBPVR, got all the QAM I should (this with my 2250 since I have no problems with the HDHR).
I then installed on a small spare drive, Vista Ultimate and both WinTV 7 and GBPVR got all the QAM stations. I didn't try a fresh install of Vista with TVPack installed but my 'old' install of Vista and the beta W7 definitely will not allow me to get any QAM channels with my 2250 with WinTV7 or GBPVR but will in Media Center. That's why I'm drinking the kool-aid and starting to believe it's Media Center related.
sub, if I do have that string in the registry, anything you want me to do to it?

Paul

I dont know much about that registry setting, but I want to know if you have it, where it is, and what its currently set to. It relates to changes Microsoft made in TV Pack and Win7 relating to ATSC/QAM tuning, but I cant test it here.

I'm loading up Win7 tonight and I'll pull my 2250 from the main HTPC and try it.

This is what my registry shows in the different systems/OS's I have installed.
Windows 7 (v7000) and HVR1600 and ATI650
Quote:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\hcw18bda\Parameters
Value set to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\hcw18bda\Parameters
set to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hcw18bda\Parameters
set to 1

Vista U with TVPack and HVR2250
Quote:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\hcwPrx89\Parameters
Set to 0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\hcwPrx89\Parameters
set to 0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hcwPrx89\Parameters
set to 0

Windows XP with HVR2250--registry does not show any instances of this string.
Windows 7 with HVR2250---registry does not show any instance of this string.

In the first system listed, MS did give testers with HVR1600's a reg file to use which I did add to the registry.;;;
Quote:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hcw18bda\Parameters]
"AllowQAM_Powertoy"=dword:00000001

Let me know what other info you need.

Maybe try setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\hcwPrx89\Parameters set to 1 on Vista TV Pack, then rebooting, and see if you manage to find any QAM scan results in GB-PVR.

No luck! I made the change, rebooted and tried WinTV7 and then GBPVR. I also use the QAM manager and tried 5 different frequency settings with not 1 QAM channel picked up.
I look forward to hearing how it turns out for Will.

Anyone tried the latest drivers yet? ftp://hauppauge.com/support/HVR2250/
Looks like 7.6.1.27056 came out this week. I'm going to get thru my recordings tonite and give them a try. If anyone has tried them, please post back with thumbs up or down.
