I'm pretty sure the lack of sound is caused by the audio decoder you're using. Try a different decoder. (maybe download AC3Filter).

For the lockup problem, try setting the audio renderer back to 'system default' instead of the realtek option you currently have selected.

I made the changes you suggested and it's working now. Thanks for the help. Now I just have to get my antenna positioned correctly to pick up more channels.
