I am trying to get an HDHomerun working in GBPVR.

The HDHomerun setup finds about 21 OTA channels when I do a scan, but when I try to map them in config.exe it can not find any.

I have attached my Config.exe log file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your signal strength is very low, averaging between 40 and 60 on digital channels. It should be in at least the 80% range for OTA (70s sometimes works).

Also, make sure that you added the necessary exceptions to your firewall if you are running one.

Thanks for the quick reply.

OK, I will work to boost the signal, but why does it work with the HDHomeRun setup software? It seems to find the channels fine.

I have disabled the Windows firewall and I do not have another one installed.

Anything else I can try other than upping the signal?

I'm pretty sure it's simply an issue of signal strength. What signal strength is reported by the HDHomeRun GUI for channel 15?

The reason that the HDHR scan finds channels could be because their detection might be a little more lenient than that in the DirectShow filters used by GBPVR. It could also be that the HDHR software is simpy detecting a lock and getting the channel info from the lineup server. If you attempt to watch a channel with the HDHR software, you should get fairly massive breakups though.

Can you also post your config.exe.log showing a scan?

OK here is the config.exe log. As well as screenshoot of signal strength for Channel 15 (not so good) and Channel 7 (over 80% on the HDHomerun).

I could try the digtalcable option, but that setup seemed harder. Maybe I will give that a shot since signal strength should be better.

In any case, thanks for you help with this.

In the HDHomeRun setup, did you set the application to GBPVR and the tuning to Digital Antenna?

Hmm, I would try improving the signal and see if that helps. If not, post the logs again after a scan.

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue, however my situation is probably a bit different.

GBPVR was picking up my OTA channels from the HDHomeRun without a problem on my previous laptop. That laptop died last month and Dell kindly sent me a brand spanking new one which is higher spec'ed in every department.

I reinstalled GB-PVR and the HDHomeRun software (which includes new firmware I think) on my new laptop and now it does not find any channels ("No Channels Found. Please check your signal and configuration settings"). I have not touched anything else besides the new laptop with the new software.

As per the OP, the HDHomeRun software picks up the channels without a problem and I can view them flawlessly in VLC. I also tried with Vista MCE and again it works just fine. Only GB-PVR seems to have issues with the channel (strength), even though it didn't have issues with it on my old laptop. I tried with different applications in the HDHomeRun settings (TotalMedia, GB-PVR and ATSC/Remap), all fail.

HDHomeRun Setup version 20090215
HDHomeRun Firmware version 20090215
GB-PVR v1.3.11

I increased my signal strength by eliminating about 100 ft of coax and now I can get my Vista MCE to tune the stations and record but I still can't tune stations on GBPVR.

I can even watch the scan and see 90%+ signal strength on some channels and it can not find them. (logs attached)
