I have a different STB than you, but you should be able to follow what I did substituting yours. It was easier than I thought and has been working perfectly for me since I posted that 3 months ago!

You don't need to HD-PVR to get the basic setup working with the channel changing part, you could do some experimenting before christmas and have it ready to roll when you get the gift. Wink

smajor, thank you so much for the info, i found it VERY helpful!!! Im trying to do the same thing you are doing. I set up an HD-PVR capture source last night even though it warned me I dont have the drivers installed, understandably. I also changed my lineup for epg and updated it. I need to pick up a firewire cable tonight and figure out which channel changer under the source I need to select. Other than that, I think Im ready to roll. Thanks again for your help!!! Im loving my HD STB btw, unfortunately, now I can never go back to analog!!!

SMajor, For the life of me I can not get Live TV to show both video and audio with my HD PVR. I can get one or the other, lately all I can get is audio. What settings do you have for:

MPEG2 Playback

Video Decoder
Audio Decoder
AC3 Decoder
Audio Renderer

Advanced Codec

H.264 Codec
AAC Decoder
HE ACC Decoder

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have LiveTV working on mine. Setup may be different than yours but here are my settings.

Video Decoder - arcsoft
Audio Decoder - arcsoft
AC3 Decoder - arcsoft
Audio Renderer - system default

H.264 Codec - arcsoft
AAC Decoder - arcsoft
HE ACC Decoder - arcsoft

Also of note, my video renderer is vmr9 custom. With this setup I am able to watch liveTV through my HD-PVR fairly smooth, recordings work too, however I cannot play my vids back within GBPVR, I have to play them in windows media player or media player classic. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Hope this helps you though bondja!!!

Mine are:

Video Decoder - Dscaler
Audio Decoder - Dscaler
AC3 Decoder - system default
Audio Renderer - system default

H.264 Codec - arcsoft
AAC Decoder - arcsoft
HE ACC Decoder - arcsoft

I don't know if the first 4 have anything to do with the HD-PVR, maybe for recordings playback... but I don't record anything - just play back stuff I've ripped from my DVD collection.

I just got my HD-PVR and I can get audio trough other programs but not when I watch live TV through gbpvr. There is a discussion in this thread on page 19 about some problems and a patch there. I tried the patch and its still not working. I have not yet had a chance to test if recordings made through gbpvr have audio or not. I was wondering if I should be using the patch on page 19 or if this problem has been fixed in more recent versions. Also, what logs ect. should I post so that someone can help me figure this out if its not something simple.

Thanks

If you create a recording and play it, do you get audio? If so, can you do this then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe-native.log? It should give me some clues why your live tv audio isnt working.

I made a recording and it had no audio when played back in gbpvr but had audio when I played it back in vlc. I also switched my Sage TV trial to use the same arcsoft decoder and it works fine in there. I can get some videos to play with audio in gbpvr. I have attached the pvrx2.exe-native.log's but the video file was huge, if you think its still relevant I can make a smaller one and upload it. Just let me know if you need it.

Did you apply the patches from the survival guide thread? http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=40303

I applied #6 and #7 and I think it fixed my mp3 playing problems, but still no luck on the live tv. No audio on recorded tv either.

Edit: wait, I don't think i did all the steps. Trying it again now.

Just received it, installed drivers and software, rebooted, tried with ArcSoft, works great. So now I try with GB-PVR, and this is what I get:

I already got an HVR-1600 (device #1?), and now try to set this up, but BG-PVR doesn't see it. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry, was able to find out, I had to add a channel to the channels...
