I managed to get ffmpeg working, but it only seemed to use one of my cores (so not too fast). Can you pint me at how to set up mencoder (i.e. where to download from). I can only seem to find mplayer?

Cheers

Mplayer is the video player & mencoder is the encoder, they should be in the same package when you download them from:

I have thought about looking at multicore support but it was only a passing thought, i think the benefits may not be that high for the amount of effort involved.

Do you know if the iplayer website is in a fixed format or are you going to have to rewrite the plugin if the beeb revamps anything? Im just remembering that the cinema listings plugin broke when the website layout changed - possibly in a deliberate attempt to hamper scraping.

I use xpath search strings which are reasonably resiliant to changes in the HTML around the entrys of interest. I would have to update the entries however if a major layout change was implemented.Sad

Have you thought about adding radio downloads?

That's funny, I just checked mine again and both cores are definately busy but for sure, ffpemg is only using 1 thread according to the vista resource monitor.

Smiler: Can you look at using ffmpeg -threads n

where n can be configured (or just 2 for now if that is easier)
