Has anyone found a good free/low cost H.264 decoder other than ffdshow that works with gbpvr? I have ffdshow installed and it works ok, but sometimes displays a green/yellow vertical band in the middle of the video during playback of H.264 encoded files. I'm looking to try something else, unless someone knows of a fix for the corrupted playback.
The only H.264 decoder from the supported list on the wiki I could find is the MainConcept decoder which is $100.
Thanks!

Having tried lots of decoders, the one I always go back to is CoreAVC - it's software decoding only, though you can offload deinterlacing to the GPU.
The professional edition cots $14.95 - a free trial is available so you can try it out first.

Met a guy the other day who was outputting 1080 to his TV and was getting weird lines in it. The output was set to 1080, but his TV is 720p. Switched it to720p and it fixed it.

Just tossing that out there. Maybe it will help someone sometime.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

Thanks guys. The CoreAVC decoder fixed the problem for me.

When I first installed it, and set it as the default h.264 decoder in the gbpvr config tool, I was still having the banding issue. Then I noticed in the system tray that there were still ffdshow icons for video and audio, so CoreAVC wasn't being used. (I have CCCP installed). Once I unchecked H.264 in the CCCP config app (and set the CoreAVC option to show icon in system tray when in use), and rebooted, I could see ffdshow as the audio decoder and CoreAVC as the video decoder. Everything is working great now!

The video output wasn't a problem in my case, but could be in others. I have a standard def TV connected via S-video.

I am using The divx7 codec, it supports H.264 and mkv playback and you can get it free.

I ran into a problem with CoreAVC stealing the window focus when I played back an h.264 encoded file. This caused the remote to stop working unless I did an Alt-Tab back to PVRX2. It turns out that this happened because I had the tray icon enabled in the CoreAVC config app. I unchecked that box and the problem is solved. Just thought I'd mention that in case anyone else hit this problem.
