BBC Iplayer Downloader Plugin - Beta + Support

Main new features:

• Most Watched and Highlights Page will be decoded and shown, allowing for easy access to the interesting shows.
  
• Hopefully, support for clients
  
• If i have time i might allow search listings by alphabet
  
• Bug fixes
  

If anyone has any suggestions I am always open to them

I was just about to suggest some kind of "browse all" feature but (1) and (3) sound pretty neat.

I think that might be a version 3 feature, I am trying to think of a good way to integrate the resulting mp3 in to GBPVR. Could just put it in the music library, but you will lose the meta data.

That's funny, I just checked mine again and both cores are definately busy but for sure, ffpemg is only using 1 thread according to the vista resource monitor.

Smiler: Can you look at using ffmpeg -threads n

where n can be configured (or just 2 for now if that is easier)

I'll see if I can add it as a config option in version 2

My only suggestion would be to find a way of downloading the HIGH QUALITY version of the program as opposed to downloading the lower quality MOV.

The bbc appear to offer these as direct downloads so you don't even need the iplayer download manager installed on the PC it seems:

The reason you cannot use these direct downloads are because they are protected by a Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection. This means that the media files have been encrypted as they are exclusively for the use of windows media player's inbuilt DRM decoder/engine. When you play the file WMP is actually decrypting it on the fly.

To see this in action try to play that download file in a player like VLC or Media player classic (i.e anything other than windows media player) and they will look corrupted or likely not play at all.

Ah, that makes sense. So could your program not just download it and then launch WMP in full screen to view it? Or is that too much of a hack?

It is possible, however i think there are issues with the WMP interface allowing other programs to show DRM protected content.

I guess the only way would be to minimise PVRX2 and maximise WMP however you would have to be able to interface to WMP to know when the playback has stopped.

The other issue would be that you could not use an MVP and it is likely that full screen exclusive screen modes would be an issue.

I have released a new version to cater for the underlying structure changes on the BBC iPlayer Search website, if you are finding that no search results are being returned this is likely your issue.
