I believe those ConnectFilters:Failed(2) messages are normal....at any rate, I also have them in my log and everything works fine.

I can't help with playback...I use a PCH...

When I boot the PC and start pvrx2 sometime the liveTV shows the current channel (I think no sound). But the video is very flaky. I can also see that 1212 has it's recording light and the border blue light on during that time. Can't reprooduce this behaviour every time.

What would help is if someone can give a list of .ax & dll files that are copied in the system32 dir from the TME folders.

In another forum on beyondtv someone just registered all the .ax files. I tried that in my previous attempt. Not sure if I want to do that again as it may be contributing to code 10 on the 1212 driver.

You should not be copying any of the files. Just install the TME software and then register the .ax files if they do not show up in the list.

Here is what I did to get the HD-PVR working on my system. Look for post with my name and you will find more details that talk about what you are going through.

Register ALL the *.ax files in the ArcSoft directory. Its A LOT easier then trying to figure out which ones you need. You will also need to copy some of those DLLs into the GBPVR directory so they can be linked in when GBPVR starts running. The ones you need will keep getting reported everytime you try to view a recording/liveTV. There's maybe 4-5 of them so keep with it......

Pick up a few changes to the DLLs that sub has made recently. From the survival guide and the posts where I talk about seeing a blank screen during playback of a recording. I got blank screen until sub got the fix posted.

Change the Video Render also to EVR. I ALWAYS got choppy playback on VMR9. They all seem to work its just a question of which works best. My choice EVR.

I've also gotten the code 10 problem in the past and seems like I uninstalled the HD-PVR from the device manager (leaving the drivers) and rebooted. Or I reinstalled the drivers. One of those to things will fix that problem.

Now here is the strangest thing that happened to me a few weeks ago. For some reason all of a sudden I got NO picture (even in TME) from the box. What I had to do to fix that eventually was to remove ALL the connections to the box and power cycle the box. Then it brought it back to life.

My first suggestion to you in trying to figure this out is make sure TME is showing the video and sound you want. Then deal with GBPVR.

Cheval - I have only one .ax file in C:\Program Files\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Extreme, called ArcVEncoder.ax. Is that all I need? Or is my Arcsoft version limited as compared to yours?

That is the video encoder and not what you need. The ax file can be in one of several locations:

C:\Program Files\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Extreme
C:\Program Files\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Extreme\Codecs
C:\Program Files\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Extreme\Digital Theatre\Codecs
C:\Program Files\Common Files\ArcSoft\MPEG Engine

Possibly other locations as well. They will all be together though. Search for ASVid.ax

Thanks - I found ASVid.ax under MPEG Engine. This directory has 58 files with a .ax extension - should I register all of them? Is it OK that at least one of them (PsiParser.ax) has the same name as one of the GB-PVR files?

I also have a lingering suspicion that I didn't properly apply the 1.3.11 patches (NativeUtilities etc.) to get the Arcsoft decoder working. Is it simply a matter of copying them to the GB-PVR directory and restarting the recording service?

Stop it before you do the copy. Probably safest to kill all the GB-PVR processes before copying, then restart the recording service.

I've been fighting with this same problem. I found the Arcsoft decoders in c:\progam files\arcsoft\totalmedia extreme\codecs\, registered all the .ax files, then changed my PATH environment variable to include the Arcsoft folder, rather than copying the .dlls to the \system32 folder. It works, with the same playback setup screen as Soch's. However I have poor quality recordings (capturing composite for now until Sky get me a HD box) and a lot of pixellation and video tearing. TME works much better and has vastly better playback. GBPVR's Live TV didn't work on any tuner until I unticked the "Use live preview mode if possible" box on the "Misc" screen in Config. I also ticked the DXVA2.0 and DXVA1.0 boxes in the Arcsoft video decoder setup - no idea if it helped!

Start by determining if its a recording or a playback problem. ie, play a file in GB-PVR that you recorded in TME. If playback doesnt look as good, then it'll come down to either the video renderer or decoders you're using. If you use the same decoders and renderers as TME, then you should get identical results.

If its a recording problem, then you may need to tweak the bitrates in AnalogHD.ini. I've never personally tested the HD-PVR for composite recording.

Most versions of it do. I've seen some comments recently saying the PowerDVD9 versions of H.264 decoder dont work though. (due to Cyberlink changing them to not work with third party apps).

I tried to play a .TS file. GB-PVR didn't even open it.
