I have comcast cable and hvr-950q usb tuner wuith qam.
I added this to bda.ini:
[Hauppauge HVR-950Q (QAM)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER=WinTV HVR-950 BDA Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=WinTV HVR-950 BDA Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

When i try to map the digital channels, during the detection process, the config program freezes. I have zipped up everything in my log folder. Please help.

btw, this tuner works fine with BTV using qam, but i don't want to pay that much for the software.

When you setup your capture source, did you choose the 'Hauppauge HVR-950Q' or 'Hauppauge HVR-950Q (QAM)' option? It strangely seemed to encounter a problem at channel 69. I'm not sure why it stopped at 69, but that is the last channel number for the non QAM option.

Did you remember to apply the patches from the survival guide?

i did not apply any patches that i can rmember. where is the survival guide? i did choose the 'Hauppauge HVR-950Q (QAM)' selection.
i think channel 69 is the start of the digial qaam channels in my area? sometimes it makes it through a few channel before crashing, sometimes not.

I disabled Media Center Receiver, as instructed by BTV. Does gbpvr need that enabled to work?

Its pinned as a sticky thread at the top of the support forum (ie, a couple of posts above this one), with the title '1.3.11 survival guide'.

i think i am getting somewhere. I read on one of those links from survival guide that lead me to try reinstalling ffdshow. did that and now no crashes during scan!! however, it didn't find any channels! I will re-register filters and try again.
