Why is that if the PCH plays it natively, the GBPVR experience with mpeg is better but I figure transcoding low quality files ends up with lower quality files.

I use it with MVPs, but there is a 'No Transcode' option.
smiler Wrote:Thats good, the audio quality is actually pretty good, I think it is AAC @ 48kHz. The video quality is only less than that of the MPEG4 stream.
The video quality will hopefully be resolved in version 3 of the plugin.
The gating factor on the video quality is, as far as I can ascertain, the degree of compression the BBC uses, which you'll have noticed manifests itself as smearing in large areas of similar hue and texture, eg grassland, close-ups of faces etc. I'm not sure how we can improve on that without going to HQ.
Incidentally, I've now moved on to the DScaler decoder which seems to demand less CPU, has no tearing (unlike the ATI hardware accelerated codec: and I bought an ATI card for just this purpose ), and offers deinterlacing without tears (in both senses of the word!).

- Noisy NAS: Xeon / Intel mobo / 16GB RAM / FreeNAS + Ubuntu VMs on VMware ESXi + 12TB RAID[/SIZE] running Plex Media Server
I've just fired it up again (it was just on a test machine before with only local screen).
It works a treat with the PCH, using no transcode and letting mono handle the .mov download.
Picture quality is a bit iffy, but considering the real recorded mpeg2 file is 900mb and the iplayer one is 113mb it is acceptable and a life saver from being hung for missing something

Version 3 of the plugin will support both HQ and BBC HD offering 1080 Resolutions. This will hopefully remove any artifacts

I've just downloaded this and it all starts up ok and shows the most watched entries ok. However, whenever I hit enter ok on a show to download it, the plugin disapears and we go back to the main menu of GBPVR.

Any ideas please?

At a guess, This is possibly an issue with the internet connection.
The best thing to do is zip up and attach your GBPVR logs and I'll take a look.
