It feels like the things I liked is gone and the stuff I disliked remains. :p

The new Image functionality still shows the first image it finds but the preview for folders is gone. This preview is the only way to show folder images in slick skin (and I use it in my community tweak, based on a fusion of slick and blue).

I liked the new feature of preview for folders (the sentence in my previous post where easy to misunderstand...). But I think the "folder.jpg" should be first to be selected.

I guess nothing was done about metadata.

I have a couple more changes to make, but the folder previews should work. Did you copy the FolderArt element from the included skin.xml (which I conveniently forgot to mention)?

Everything appears to work but I'm not the most thorough tester... so here's another test dll and skin.

I'll try this new one when I come home (which likely will be tomorrow).

I did try with the slick skin, as I noticed this was new, but no folder images. But I did not have that much time yesterday so I just took a quick glance in the xml, but didn't find the new element then. I where going to do a file comparison, but ran out of time...

OK, I have tested this for a bit now. I set it up on my new nice Win 7 laptop.
It took a while for me to find the setting "StrictFolderMetadata". But after that I could test for real and found some issues...

* The hybridview seems to be gone (tested in blue skin).
* If there is no "folder.xml", folder.jpg is shown as image (Correct behavior).
But if there is a "folder.xml", first episode image is shown as folder image instead.
* The Slick skin folder name is "videosLibrary" in the zip here, should be renamed "Videos Library".
* (Blue skin with the folder preview added from slick) If I select folder view with thumbnails in (third view) it takes about 5-10 sek to show the thumb but the preview is loaded immediately. If I have folder.xml it seems to take more than 10 sek to load the thumb.

Thanks for the detailed feedback 7ore. It should be a simple matter to fix the folder.jpg issue, and the slow thumbnails will hopefully be resolved with the new file system caching I recently finished. Even so, I expected folder metadata to be slightly less performant, but not to the degree you've described (especially having checked StrictFolderMetadata). Are most of your files being accessed over a network?

I should have a new version out today or tomorrow.

In this case, I was using a local folder.
I used network access earlier (before i found the setting) but that took to long to load...
It was a laptop and I blamed wlan.

New version 1.59.0 uploaded:
- Implemented file system caching.
- Folder thumbnails/metadata fixes.
- Retrieve playback status immediately if cached.
- Watch all directories for changes, not just the current.
- Immediately start processing thumbnails after changing dir.
- Updated slick skin.xml file.

@7ore: I was unable to reproduce the hybrid view bug.

Hmm, I cannot open any folders with this version. It just jumps back to main menu...
When I check version info, the dll is 1.5.8.1, according to the properties.

The version is probably just something I forgot to change (fixed now). Folders work for me - I did at least that level of testing - so you'll have to check the logs for errors/exceptions.
